TOS change - 12/15/2012

Rules

A new rule has been added to the Terms of Service:

- not manipulate official pet details (pet image, pet stats, pet breedability, etc.) in pet profiles through CSS or any other means

On the forums we had some fun with modifying the size of pet images, but this also led to the discovery that official pieces of data could be edited too, as well as unapproved images be placed over pet images. This opens up an avenue to cheating (imagine buying a pet with an image containing text showing it's breedable placed over the section saying it's not!), so this sort of activity is now disallowed.

However, when all pet profile capabilities are back up, you can still do fun things like change backgrounds, font colors, etc. and express your creativity through pet pages!

This concept is already in the ToS: "not attempt to conceal information upon which the sale is dependent".

@23585
Yeah, but an overlay of a site pet, or a non-silver custom with a repose and/or redrawn larger version of it would be interesting. Say, I could cover up this guy's image with the drawing below, but he's not an SCC and it would not prevent him from breeding with others of his lines. He'd just look shiny on his profile, rather than double images. Safety over style, though, so I understand the ToS change.

So to clarify, this profile I coded a while back would/will get me into trouble? What if I were to completely remove the breedable info when lookups work again?

Well, you won't have to worry about me. I can't even figure out how to get CSS working (and barely some HTML) to work on pet profiles or pages so. Yea xD

@10340 Wouldn't doing that kind of defeat part of the purposes of the SCC and PBC though?

Couldn't change a thing.

I'm glad you discovered that! It could have some nasty implications.

Are we still allowed for instace on OUR profiles to display pets in a semi-transparent box. effecitivly making the pet semi-transparent as well?
