Have you always wanted to make someone's dream come true? Do you relish in the delight of others? Is your generosity and kindness unparalleled? Do you aspire to be a large bearded man with an affinity for crimson?

Then hold onto your sleigh bells, because it's time for the greatest gift exchange in Aywas' history!

The Holiday Tree is back and ready to guard presents from here to as far as the eye can see until December 25th!

If this splendidly decorated tree is new to you, here's the basics. On the main tree page, at a quick glance you can see how many gifts have been sent in total, as well as how many you have waiting for you. Your button options are:

Give Present - I expect you'll be hitting this one a lot, so be gentle! Clicking this button will take you to a screen where you can choose to gift either an item or a pet. From there, you can choose a specific player or a random one, decide if you want to be anonymous or not, select your gift, and enter a message. There's also a confirmation screen built in. :3

Most Needy Stockings - This is a list of users that have the least amount of goodies waiting for them. Help bump them up off that list!

View Your Gifts - Clicking this will take you to a page that displays the wrapped gifts waiting for you to open. You will only be able to open them anytime on or after December 25th!

If you are participating in the official community Secret Santa, here's how things work!
Note: The deadline for creating a wishlist has passed.

When you first go to the Secret Santa page, you will see a message that says:
If you are interested in participating in this year's Secret Santa, you can click the button below to have a recipient assigned to you.
Click "Grant a Wish" to be randomly assigned another user to gift. This helps ensure active players will be participating. :3

Once you click the button, you will be taken to a page that says:
You've been assigned Username (#)! Try to grant as many reasonable wishes on their list as you can to make it an excellent holiday season for them.
Their wishlist will also be displayed on this page for quick reference.

Assignments are completely random, so the person that you're shopping for won't necessarily be your partner ('cause then it wouldn't be much of a secret, now would it? *wink*).

How to Send Your Assigned Giftee Presents!

Simply go to the Holiday Tree and go through the gifting process like you normally would. The only difference here is that on the confirmation screen, there will be a box that pops up for you to check off that says Send as Secret Santa? Check off that button and hit send. :3 This option should only appear when you're gifting your assigned giftee, and it doesn't matter if you chose anonymous or not on the screen before. When you check off the secret santa box and your giftee receives a present, it will say "From your Secret Santa."

Secret Santa Tips

- Don't give away the identity of your partner! Keep it a secret until the 25th when the names are revealed.

- Remember, you can make changes to your wishlist at any point during the event.

- With that in mind, please make sure you include a variety of wishes that also vary in price.
If your only wish is a Slashbot, not only will you probably not get it, but your Secret Santa is going to feel like poop because they--along with other users who might want to gift bomb you--won't have any clue what to get you.

- Get creative! Aywas has some pretty rad items and pets to wish for, but don't forget that you can also wish for art or silly messages. You can also gift fun "coupons" that the person could redeem for something like profile coding or a day where you'll level their pet, or even offer them a special breeding with a custom of yours.

- If you choose to "Grant a Wish," you are committing to participating in the event. Even if the person you're assigned has a crazy wishlist that you can't afford, just do your best to send them some holiday cheer. It's the thought that counts!

- Pace yourself! Santa might get all his gifting done in one night, but he also has an army of elves working 'round the clock all year.

- Have fun! :3 That's what it's all about, folks.

Didn't sign up for our SS event? Don't worry. :3 The AyMas tree is open to everyone and there are user-run secret santa events going on all month!

Both links to the tree and SS are now under Community as well.

I received a gift that is "From Your Secret Santa". Is that the system going haywire, or is it just a confusingly-named anonymous gift?

Okay Malicus, you're going to have to spell out for me what's confusing about that, because it's intentional when it comes from your Secret Santa and my brain is mush. XD - Eri

I could swear that's how the anonymous gifts were named last year, and aren't the actual secret santa gifts supposed to not appear until the 25th?

Oh, no, if it comes from someone who chooses the anonymous option it just says plain ol' Santa. "From Your Secret Santa" = your actual assigned SS has gifted you that present. :3 We added this option after the other page was already written, so we'll get rid of that text about the 25th. You can send the presents now and they should appear, you just can't open them until the 25th of course, and that's when the name will be revealed. Does that help clarify? - Eri

Oh. Okay. I hadn't actually tried opening the gift yet.

Because the hyperlink from "grant someone's wish" brought me to the page for getting a person assigned and not to the list of wishes?

I thought I signed up for it but now I went there and it says I didn't! Blast! I wasn't here before for SS so I guess I only did the wishlist. Bummer. Oh, well; I'll have to wait till next year then and randomly gift people on the list.

I thought you meant the text. Can you still hit the grant a wish link? - Eri

Oh no, the gift war begins! I hope my person works a bit more on their wishlist before Christmas, because it reads like this: "Expensive Item 1, Expensive Item 2, Expensive Item 3, Random Things". Would be nice if "random things" could be specified a tiny bit more. ;) But I can work with it either way... :] Looking forward to stalk the "Needy Stocking" page once people get into the whole gifting.
