The GCC Deal is going strong. Starting now, any orders submitted (and ones that are expecting outstanding forms) are going to have a new field in them:

Species:
Keyword:
2-3 Colors:
Suggested Artists:

Please note that I cannot guarantee that a suggested artist will be assigned your design, but if you happen to see some artists opening up GCC blogs that you like, feel free to name them. There are about twenty five artists right now so obviously not everyone is opening up a blog!

Based on a suggestion from another user, feel free to use that new field to tell me who you DON'T want your design assigned to (don't worry, it'll be kept secret). That I can much more easily comply to and just skip over your form if I'm assigning for an artist you don't like. Be sure to specify if it's someone you like or don't like, though!

Also, I thought I should mention that the document organizing all of the GCC design purchases is linked to each individual form PM thread, so you can update/change your design request form (including suggesting/denying artists) as much as you want by responding to the original message, until the point where it gets assigned.

Just weighing in here, but personally I'd just be uncomfortable with it if someone were to sell premades of a design I made. If they want to do different colors for themself or their friends or whatever, or split up the edits into different customs, or sell the design... whatever, that's all cool.

Now THAT was a brilliant idea! Way to go. =D It makes the deal a lot more tempting!

What if, instead of trying to keep track of royalties for those who want to re-sell PSD uses or pre-mades of a design, they instead paid a set flat fee up-front to the artist? Each artist could have their own fee or it could be set by Aywas/Slash. That... seems to be a middle ground? Artists get a little bit extra for allowing their hard work to be re-used by someone other than themselves, users get to spread around their designs, and the site does not have to keep track of royalties.

While I can see the issue from both sides, I feel like a design =/= a .PSD to do whatever you want with. /my two cents

I agree that it seems wrong to let people use a GCC design as a premade to sell. I can see the point that the site would have, but it's still profiting from work that isn't yours. And that makes me as an artist feel like I would be quite upset about it.

So...how does SCCs work or breedings cause they get sold anyways lol...No one would make a fuss if this was breedings. It's still the same. Work of someone else's is being sold in different forms. SCCs get re colored and sold. So, if you are a scc artist but then you don't like the idea of GCC designs being let out, how is it any different lol.

And I like how we can't choose who we like but we can choose who we don't like as an artist. Huhwat.

I feel like if people are allowed to sell premades of the customs they get there is nothing to stop them from taking the .PSDs apart, getting them down to blue, and setting up shop. Then they are not only profiting from work that isn't theirs, but cutting into the artist's market as well. It's just not very ethical, in my opinion.

As far as SCCs go, SCCs are different because they are a separate species, these are official site species. I feel like that makes them different. I feel like they should be treated more like a breeding, where you can't just take the .PSD and sell premades of it.

I still don't see why they can't do the same thing like they do with SCC put in there that they can't be edited and must be a GCC. There are restrictions on SCCs so why couldn't there be the same on the PSDs here?

If you actually read the news post you'd see you can edit your form up until it's assigned.
