The GCC Deal is going strong. Starting now, any orders submitted (and ones that are expecting outstanding forms) are going to have a new field in them:

Species:
Keyword:
2-3 Colors:
Suggested Artists:

Please note that I cannot guarantee that a suggested artist will be assigned your design, but if you happen to see some artists opening up GCC blogs that you like, feel free to name them. There are about twenty five artists right now so obviously not everyone is opening up a blog!

Based on a suggestion from another user, feel free to use that new field to tell me who you DON'T want your design assigned to (don't worry, it'll be kept secret). That I can much more easily comply to and just skip over your form if I'm assigning for an artist you don't like. Be sure to specify if it's someone you like or don't like, though!

Also, I thought I should mention that the document organizing all of the GCC design purchases is linked to each individual form PM thread, so you can update/change your design request form (including suggesting/denying artists) as much as you want by responding to the original message, until the point where it gets assigned.

Hmm... That is not a bad idea, actually. I personally won't be messaging anyone about it, but for those artists who really do care, it would be a good approach.

Aqua, that's fine - I won't begrudge you if you want to quit the GCC team so your work isn't redistributed.

Viridian - the issue is, I don't want to publicize the GCC team and instead allow everyone to decide whether they want to make a blog/posts their list (which is the only way that everyone would know who does/doesn't allow use of their work). I don't want the staff to have to get involved with enforcing royalty amounts because it sounds painfully complex, too :c

oooo~ I... this question is hard. I don't think it's fair with the artist to have their job being distributed around... as Aqua said, PBC and SCC artists receive better than GCC.. I would be kinda sad to see people quiting the team because they put too much effort on something that can be overused and distributed indiscriminately (not saying that everyone would do that, but we know that it's a possibility)...

Oh no...You dont have to publicize them at all. ;) If only you know who will and wont give out full rights, and a user says 'I want full rights' then you can eliminate them from the choices straight away (much in the same way that we can choose who we dont want now and it stays secret). As for the royalties, I can see your point totally...I just thought I'd throw it out there. But yeah, I'm expecting everyone to be the decent, honest people that I keep thinking they are but some actually aren't and therefore enforcing would be a mess. - V

As a regular user, I actually think it would be incredibly unfair to the artists if someone purchased a GCC, got a free design, and was allowed to redistribute it. UNLESS they had the artist's permission; if the artist doesn't mind, then I have no issue with it. I thought it was implied that these were 1-use designs. It doesn't make sense to me because it's meant to be a kind of "gift" for buying a GCC--and in my opinion, gifts shouldn't be used for profit unless the artist is okay with that.

The fact that users can resell SCC PSDs is stated directly; we're aware of this, but SCC artists are paid more than GCC. And if users can't charge more for predicts than the breeding artists are paid (because then there would be no incentive for the breeding artists), users shouldn't be allowed to resell the same design multiple times made by a GCC artist (again, without permission). Because it causes the same issue--there is then no real incentive for the GCC artists. They could be making their own designs and getting a greater GP profit from it in the end.

To be fair, we did give up the rights of these designs by selling them in the first place. I think it would be polite for a user to check with the artist first, but it also does not seem entirely right to enforce it when they originally commissioned it. It would be unexpectedly nice if they offered to share a part of the profits (IF they went down that road) and treat it more like collaborated work... but like previously stated, the design has been paid for, so I think I'm just dreaming there! Just coming into this but I had an idea that might make everyone happy. What about if the users sells copies of the design they have to kick back a percentage to the artists? I know this would be reliant on users being honest but it might be a way to keep both the user base and the artists happy? As I know on my design I'd like to be able to get a 2nd one made of it so I could have a pair for breedings. Just a thought...

I'm personally not gonna jump ship over this at all, no worries! I'm working for the site, I've committed myself to what that entails, I just would prefer that they were one-use designs since that's what I had understood. :U While I don't want my designs used as a template, if the official word is that users can, then I guess I have to put on my big girl panties. XD

I personally think it would be fair to leave it up to the artist. The person is getting "A" design, free, with their purchase of a GCC. They aren't paying anything additional for it. If the artist wants to allow them to make 100 of them, great. If they'd prefer they keep it at one PSD, great. Either way, the person was told they'd receive "a" pet design. Anything else is just a happy little bonus, imo.
