Tokens + Custom Reminders

Site Update

magic_metalcustomcoin.gifmagic_bronzecustomcoin.gifmagic_bluecustomcoin.gifmagic_goldcustomcoin.gif

The Custom Tokens in the Trash Shop have been given a serious price bump. I know price increases are never fun, but I think we can all agree that being able to get a pet with 75% edits for 1 GP isn't quite right.

And while I'm here, I'd like to remind everyone that glows, transparency, and clipped on accessories/clothing still count as edits, and thus are not allowed on Metals.

This pet is okay for Metal:

These pets, however, would NOT be okay:

I'd also like to make sure everyone knows that the Personal Custom Queue now allows you to cancel your own pet submissions! If you submit an image only to realize you submitted the wrong image, had a white background, coloring errors, or any other mistake, you can cancel it yourself instead of having to PM me.

I am a casual user, I don't and have never paid for GP with RL money. I was an RBC artist for maybe a year and I used to take a few commissions, a few, I'm not rich, I have 1300 TP currently.

Tokens are still reasonable goals, it'll just take a little longer, maybe a bit more strategy to get there, but it's still achievable even without premium. Tokens are still way, way under the value of other custom making items that give the same level of edit availability. Before you crow about how few genuses are available, what at FCCs and FCOs which only have 4 genuses available each.

This change wasn't made to hurt the poor users or punish them, or take away their fun/money/whatever, this change was done to try and give them some value. There is something wrong with the economy when a gold level custom item is worth less than an MCC.

@zebby I guess I was unlucky then, since I got lovely pets, but they were low level explore/no level adventure. I don't regret having them, but in the end how I started to make money was to buy a top-tier adventure pet and go premium. I think if people want to start pulling the "it's so easy" card, they need to buck up and share how they all did it. Not every method works for people and that excuse comes off more and more like that, an excuse. "Making money is easy! Just follow that tutorial and you'll make it like me!!1" "I am, and the tutorial is a little too general in places, so how'd you do it?" "....... GOD YOU WANT ALL THE HANDOUTS DON'T YOU?!"

-Simple example: look at what you said about the newbie giveaways. if the tutorial had mentioned that, I would've held off on the other giveaways, since a good number have a limit on a number of pets you can have and be applicable. Or like another blunder of mine: I got an enchanted water out of a quest during the exotic event, annnnd I used it because I didn't have a high-level adventure pet yet. A basic list of which r100 items seem to show up even less than normal (or just a general "FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T TRASH THAT ITEM/PLUSH/EXC" guide) would go a long way. You can say it's easy, but from the over 100 comments about people who have been saving and just had their collective chains yanked, clearly some information is not getting around.

I am okay with the price hike, appalled by the community. Not the community's reactions to the price hike, but their treatment of each other. Seeing these comments makes me glad I never worked up the courage to interact with the community, and anyone who's stooped to namecalling and insults should be ashamed of themselves. Your behavior reflects on Aywas, and right now it's reflecting very poorly. If you care enough about Aywas to want to support and protect its economy, you should also care enough to want to represent it in a positive way, rather than give the impression most of the users are metaphorical feminine hygiene products.

Lets try this again. I've got a little more perspective now.

I remember the last time we had an issue like this where an item had lost it's value (it was MCC's and MCO's) the staff had a metal event to bleed off the excess. Trade in the items and out came user made customs from it! I don't see why something like that couldn't happen again just with Tokens instead. Put in a token get a user base (or any excess staff made) customs at the level of the color you put in. It helped the last time, and to me it seems a far better solution then a 5x price hike and (from what I can tell) the issue seems to be premium users and their unlimited dump limit selling tokens.

Guess what I'm saying is look at other things first before jacking the price please, sometimes you'll get a solution that'll help.

I'm one of those users who only get GP when they actually pay for it with real money. Normally, I'm pretty much broke. And you know what? I'm fine with this. It's a big hike, but it's not like you actually have to pay money to get one. You can still get tokens without having to pay BP or GP. It'll just take a longer time to get than it used to. Which, to me, makes it a better goal.

The problem is not just an excess of tokens, it's how easy they are to get now, with how adventure gives out items. A price hike is preferable to adventure being tampered with, as adventure is a big thing (speaking of the coding involved) and changing the price is not.

If you can't find a give away for a free high level pet, look in the pet sales forums, I obtained a Lv30-ish adventure pet for 100K BP, I never feed him, his energy is replenished by random events.

Tips and tricks:
1. if an item is r100 check it's price in the user shops, if the lowest price is 100k+ then sell said item, if not then trash it.
2. During an event don't trash any event items, if need be buy more inventory slots, save the items until the end of the event, their rarity might be changed to retired giving you 11 TP per item.
3. ignore the merchants unless you need them for a quest (if you do need them for a quest only buy items asking less than 5K)
4. Any keys you find sell, only pick locks in adventure
5. Don't bother trying for the jumping the ravine, it's pointless unless it's something you really want (ie in events some desireable items might be there)
6. since you have a high level pet now, still get the free food and trash it unless you get a r100 item (check it's shop price as per tip 1)

Thing is, I joined the site thinking it was amazing that you could make your own customs without tons of effort put into it. Adventure for a week or two, get a custom! Maybe not a Melo or some other popular pet, but still a pet. Better than any other pet site I had ever seen. I got three of my family and friends to join under the same pretense. Now every custom item is far more work. You can say I'm feeling entitled, but I joined this site solely for something that was just taken away. Yes, I can still achieve it through more work, but that's not what I was here for. Worst part, I could have had more of the customs I've been wanting if I hadn't been waiting for my partner to be able to earn her own tokens. She doesn't play as often as I do, doesn't use the old explore / the adventure system as well, it just takes her time to be able to buy any of them. At her rate of play, it would literally take a year to achieve a gold token now. It's just...sad. I shouldn't be as upset by this as I am, but as is, I don't know. This just isn't the site I thought it was and it's upsetting.

Why does everyone aim for the gold token anyway, try going for metal or bronze, the token pets are hard to edit nicely anyway, personally a gold token pet is more hassle to actually get it up past 50% edits :/ I much prefer metal, bronze or blue level pets anyway.

I agree with everything that Red_77 just said. Also, I'm extremely disappointed in how the community is acting in this news comment. There's absolutely no reason for people to be so rude and mean. It's sickening and it is absolutely unnecessary. Now, I will put in my opinion. I've been here since December of '09. We didn't have Token pets back then or SCCs for that matter or any of the fancy stuff we have today, but there was the minimum amount of custom making items available. I have never put in any real money into the site. I've -always- worked hard for what I wanted on this site. I was extremely lucky to have the friends I did have on here. Some, I still need to pay back for all their extreme amount of kindness to me. I didn't get my first custom until maybe...a year into the site? I actually can't remember, but what I do remember was that the custom I bought was around 1mil BP, back when GP was 100K BP per. I worked extremely hard to pay off my friend for this custom and in the end, I was so happy to have something that was unique and my own to have. The next goal was to make customs for myself and get premium status, which came way later. I saved up so much that I was able to get a year's worth of premium. For you new members, there are ways of getting your own custom and ways of getting premium without actually being a paid member of Aywas. It's very easy to do(thought most will disagree and that is okay), and you shouldn't let other users or new effects, like price rises, falter you from your goals. There's also the point that most shops' prices are affected by how many pets a new user has. There is the other point of seasoned users having giveaway threads for you guys. Please, please don't abuse this kindness. It is a great way to get started, but you can't rely on other people -all- the time. Work for your goals, and if you need a little guidance(advice) in doing that, I'll be here to help you. If you have been working since you came onto the site, but fear that your goal is out of reach, it isn't. I'm not that active in forums and I know I might not be well-liked(for some unknown reason, who knows), but I will help you achieve your goals with my advice. And for other, older players that know me, you can come to me too. Let's not let negativity get in the way of a sudden change. We are meant to adapt, no? Good Karma, people. Good Karma.

I like edits. Even a blue token is now over double the price of the old gold token. I generally went for gold so I wouldn't have to worry if I had gone over 50% or not. If I had to now, yes, I would go for blue and get everything checked out and take away things I had originally wanted to be there to get it to fit the cheaper price, but it still is just not what it was. It's so far from what it was. It's not that we shouldn't have goals, it's that I had other goals and these were just the fun part of the site I could enjoy without having to work my butt off. I just thought it was how it was supposed to be, that we could make cheap, easy customs.
