Tokens + Custom Reminders

Site Update

magic_metalcustomcoin.gifmagic_bronzecustomcoin.gifmagic_bluecustomcoin.gifmagic_goldcustomcoin.gif

The Custom Tokens in the Trash Shop have been given a serious price bump. I know price increases are never fun, but I think we can all agree that being able to get a pet with 75% edits for 1 GP isn't quite right.

And while I'm here, I'd like to remind everyone that glows, transparency, and clipped on accessories/clothing still count as edits, and thus are not allowed on Metals.

This pet is okay for Metal:

These pets, however, would NOT be okay:

I'd also like to make sure everyone knows that the Personal Custom Queue now allows you to cancel your own pet submissions! If you submit an image only to realize you submitted the wrong image, had a white background, coloring errors, or any other mistake, you can cancel it yourself instead of having to PM me.

Wow, this is just ridiculous. Just way too much. Should have bought the gold and blue tokens that I needed before now. Sigh, and there goes more of the fun of Aywas, being sucked away.

:( I wish the tokens were less... The metal token is NOT worth 2,500 trash points. At all... At least lower the Metal one?

I wouldn't mind a price increase, but that's one heck of a jump....

I can understand both sides of this argument, but I honestly don't think it's right to make such a huge increase without at least increasing how many points can be dumped each day for the non-premium users. I think that and I'm a premium user, for crying out loud.

Perhaps the price increase is perfectly reasonable in comparison to other custom making items. But I can honestly see how some people feel punched in the gut over it.

If the problem is too many customs being submitted, perhaps start limiting the amount of customs that can be submitted every month? Base it on the type of custom making item, the cheaper coins would have a lower number than say GCC, because the cheaper items are more easily obtained, whereas the GCC take more effort to get. It would also be a good way to boost the economy... if the cheaper customs are filled up for the month or go pretty quickly, then more people might be inclined to work toward the more expensive items.

I'm not sure if that would work in practice, but it's a thought for consideration. I can see how some people would be upset if they weren't able to get their customs submitted in time. But if that's an issue, maybe just limit custom submissions to certain times a month or on certain days... every other week, whatever works best. *shrug*

There were some really good suggestions regarding the TP breeding items, that I think could work to make everyone happy. I do hope something is fixed to sooth the upset, but not at the expensive of the greater issue.

I don't mind the price hikes but consider the time it would take to give 14000 items to the trash dump (not accounting for rarity, but still absurd)

Passive aggressiveness doesn't help either.

@the people complaining about "handouts"

Oh that's cute, you're cute. You seem to have mixed up the definition of "reasonable goals" with "handout". Don't worry, it's a common bootstrapper fanatic's problem. Here, let me clarify:

*Reasonable goal: The completely rational desire to set a long-term goal and not have it yanked out from under you like a cheap rug in a old movie.

*Handout: The desire to get something for ZERO effort put into it.

Let's compare these two shall we? Okay, answer this question: did the person say they wanted it for zero effort, as in BAM, suddenly there's a token in their inventory like it was a Christmas miracle? Nnnnno? WELL THAT MEANS IT'S NOT A HANDOUT. But I hear you saying that clearly these people want to throw a pittance of items in. ... you mean the over two thousand points? When non-premium members can only chuck in 100 items? ALSO NOT A HANDOUT.

Do you know why this is going to deter more than the "lazy" people? Because anyone with a business sense worth a crap is going to want to see that any money and effort they put into the site is rewarded. If they see that the rules constantly change for non-rl cash items? Unless that have a stalkerish love of the site they're not going to go for that, UNLESS they can get an angle where they can make money off the playerbase. Artists who can work the market, resellers who know how to restock (and may just be funneling the profit off to other sites to trade), and people who are old hands at petsites and are experienced with the system? They'll stay on. The other people, moneyed or no, will dump the site.

There is a way even when you're not premium to get 1000 - 1100 TP in one day. All you have to do is collect items during events, if those items are then retired they can be trashed for 11 TP each, like the dyes from that event ages ago, they can be trashed for 11 TP now.

TP is easy to get if you know what you're doing. So is BP, the new prices are still reasonable, it's not reasonable to be able to obtain a custom making item within a few days. Within weeks or months is reasonable. Long term goals are just that, long term, so what it's gonna take you longer to get a Token, it's not like the tokens were taken away, it's going to take longer to get to them, that's all.
