Tokens + Custom Reminders

Site Update

magic_metalcustomcoin.gifmagic_bronzecustomcoin.gifmagic_bluecustomcoin.gifmagic_goldcustomcoin.gif

The Custom Tokens in the Trash Shop have been given a serious price bump. I know price increases are never fun, but I think we can all agree that being able to get a pet with 75% edits for 1 GP isn't quite right.

And while I'm here, I'd like to remind everyone that glows, transparency, and clipped on accessories/clothing still count as edits, and thus are not allowed on Metals.

This pet is okay for Metal:

These pets, however, would NOT be okay:

I'd also like to make sure everyone knows that the Personal Custom Queue now allows you to cancel your own pet submissions! If you submit an image only to realize you submitted the wrong image, had a white background, coloring errors, or any other mistake, you can cancel it yourself instead of having to PM me.

I'm with Decayed Lagomorpha here; I was one of those artists who colored silly metal designs for people. I can't do that anymore now, since I really doubt any one'll want to go to that level of effort just for some tiny pixel fish in a "tank". It was something I could do to make people happy and improve my spriting ability and coloring skills; I didn't even ask for prices on the designs.

Glad I did that though, since if I tried that now it's never going to be something I'd get anywhere with.

Just because of the price hike doesn't mean people will stop.. buying Token pets. It wont stop me, I love me some Garus.. mmm.. I'll still be looking for designs. It just takes a bit more time to get them in.. It's really not that big of a deal. So you have to work more towards your goal.. Oh no! -Jack

Okay no. Just no. This is fail of the highest level. Call me whatever lovely term you want to use, but it still doesn't change what this is. An increase is fine, I would have supported a price increase. But this? Is price GOUGING.

HEY IS IT STORYTIME? I THINK IT IS. Anyway. When I joined this site I had my custom in two days, metal, and it was through busting my little rear end on high-rarity items. It was literally two solid days of spending every spare moment finding items, making money to buy more items, and in general applying liberal amounts of nose to grindstone.

You know what? After I got it? I spent real money on the site. I wanted to reward the place that didn't tell me to slave away just to be a fraction of a percent close to the rich folk. Four million bp for a custom/event item? On another site that would be next to impossible, on here? It was a goal. Why? Because you could get little rewards along the way to lessen the sting. They weren't the cadillacs of fake pixelpets, but at least they were the hondas.

And now you're saying "piss off reguar folks and non-premium lot, this here's the country club now." Take away cd's because it's wrecking things? Annoying, but I understand. Taking the breeding coins away from the dirty, muddy paws of those hideous poor folk? Not cool and it's only a band-aid on the real problem, but I'm sure you think it's all for a good cause. This? Well congrats, you now don't. Have anything to welcome in the new players who could become paying customers. Breeding is backed up or impossible to get coins for at a normal rate, so that leaves collecting and customs, right? Oh what was that? Leveling in Adventure is random and punishes the player for wanting to say that a quest costs too much to complete? And if they want the legendary rares they need to shell out for the books that attract them? Well customs it is then. I'm sure that won't be too hard to get enough points for...

Oh. Right. The price increase.

This is going to turn away a lot of potential customers, and existing ones. Like me. I'm really not going to pay my real-life money into this site if it'll devolve into a rich-mans' game.

The point there is though you'll be looking for designs that specifically seem "worth it", which is going to cut out a lot of the mediocre to decent artists starting out. Looking back on the art for the accepted pets here, the quality has jumped massively: I only can assume that's from practice. But those starting out may have less of an incentive to keep at it and learn with these increasing...

Personally, I think it might not be such a bad thing if a few 'potential paying customers' are turned away. Think about it. Any people who want to join, but aren't willing to wait and work for a custom or whatever they want was most likely going to end up being one of the whiners anyway, and we can certainly do without more of those. The people that join now will be the more mature lot who realize that not everything should be handed to you, and that you can enjoy a game without having all the expensive stuff. You don't have to spend real money on this site to enjoy it. I've spent what... Maybe $5? And that was for a premium gift for someone who didn't have enough GP. I'm not an artist. My custom design shop has long shut down. And guess what? I still enjoy the site. You lot who aren't giving this a chance need to chill, and maybe take a step back off your pedestals to realize that you are just one more player who can't appreciate all the hard work that goes into this site. The prices and rules and everything else you complain about isn't what's stifling this site and making it not enjoyable... It's your ego and blatant disrespect that's doing that.

Ok, I don't normally comment on newsposts, but I had to on this one. Like many of what the other people said, this really is unfair to players for many of the reasons that they pointed out. I don't think I need to reiterate 18 pages worth. But seriously, Aywas, you're taking the fun out of the site, and at this point I'm seriously regretting spending my VERY hard earned GP for an upgrade. :/

The selling point of this site used to be all about the "YAY a place where you can easily get your OWN custom, and its not just for elite players! They're obtainable!", and is not really about the breeding (face it, its not. Breeding here is mad expensive. If you want breeding, go to Wajas.) And now you've taken away the easiest obtainable way of reaching that goal that every player wants. Even at the old token prices, it still cost a lot of time and effort to get enough for a token.

And to those "newbies" who submit awfully MS paint pets-- Who is to say that they DIDN'T try hard on their custom? I understand about rejecting a cutsom with a white background, but c'mon, seriously? Some people just do not have artistic ability, and just want a pet that they did that they were proud of.

Seriously guys, tokens are a FREE custom item, all you need to put in is time, seriously, quit whining that you can't submit a custom every week anymore, grow a pair and actually put a little time into it, doing dailies and collecting adventure items is all you need to do, dump anything that sells for less than 100k in the user shops.

Save up and invest in a level 30 or so adventure pet (they cost like 100k bp seriously) and you will NEVER have to feed it, so you can use the free daily food to trash, you can trash items from adventure, you get like millions of items in adventure, collect keys and only pick locks so you can sell keys. It's not hard to get items or BP.

Sure I've been here from the start, and I saved up 70 iron pieces for my first metal custom, it took me a couple of months because I was determined, the design was simple and the PSD was a mess, but I was proud.

You know what, it's still easier to get a custom now, a MCT is only 2250 TP, that's achievable fairly quickly even without premium, start out with simple goals and work up from there. Each custom I have, I worked for, I don't buy GP with real money and for a time I was an RBC artist, but I don't have the time to put in the hours for that anymore.

So I don't have a massive income, or a store of money, I currently have 100GP and 2mil BP, I'm saving up to get a silver species established so I'm not using that GP, I'm saving it. It's not hard to earn money on here, not really, you just have to put in time and effort.

You c=guys can still make 'silly little designs' and still sell them, just look at the customs people do make that are from 'silly' or unknown artists, people atill want cheap designs, especially if the item to make the custom is more expensive. Aywas is not 'taking your job', you might just have to work harder.
