Tokens + Custom Reminders

Site Update

magic_metalcustomcoin.gifmagic_bronzecustomcoin.gifmagic_bluecustomcoin.gifmagic_goldcustomcoin.gif

The Custom Tokens in the Trash Shop have been given a serious price bump. I know price increases are never fun, but I think we can all agree that being able to get a pet with 75% edits for 1 GP isn't quite right.

And while I'm here, I'd like to remind everyone that glows, transparency, and clipped on accessories/clothing still count as edits, and thus are not allowed on Metals.

This pet is okay for Metal:

These pets, however, would NOT be okay:

I'd also like to make sure everyone knows that the Personal Custom Queue now allows you to cancel your own pet submissions! If you submit an image only to realize you submitted the wrong image, had a white background, coloring errors, or any other mistake, you can cancel it yourself instead of having to PM me.

Oce, Parvana, why not take this to PM's? There's no reason to fight like children in a news post.

Hmm so reading through the posts (wow people can be ridiculous) but I saw the suggestion and it mirrored one I was thinking - if tokens are to help cull hoarding then why not make it so they can't be sold or set a price floor? Heck make tokens a set price so that IF a user sells them they won't crash the economy as it's implied. This might have the added benefit of stabilizing rates somewhat better? Sure up the trash points but not five times more like three times. Yes I commented before but had to post something constructive. Oh and other suggestion since I am a premium and try to make it a point to dump over a hundred items BECAUSE I have that ability - maybe dump limits for non-premium can be increased like with the daily BP or Kaz daily bp?

I completely understand why the price has to be hiked. Sure, it makes me a bit mad at myself for not buying that Gold Custom Token before now, but I understand why the price hike was necessary. Considering the amount of artistic freedom a Gold Custom Token allows, it only makes sense that it come at a reasonable price.
That being said, I understand why some people find this price hike unfair. I just hope that this discussion can be a civil one; people from all sides of this debate only want the site to be a fun place to spend time. Even if you disagree wholeheartedly with what someone else says, I hope that you'll take into account that they're only expressing what they believe is best for the site, and reply accordingly :3

ah- there goes any chance of making another custom for months. This is disappointing, since once again, new users, poor users (not everyone has that much disposable income!) and users who are just not very good at art (and there's only so much GET BETTER that can be managed!) are being screwed out of one more thing that they were able to manage.

I can't help but laugh at the fact people are using the "Artist" card as an argument here. You don't need to be an "artist drowning in GP" to be able to throw the many items you can find doing daily activities into the trash bin.

Actually Gp= getting a premium account= able to trash unlimited amounts of items vs only 100 a day. I hope there can be some give and take in this. Like I said earlier up the amount non premium users can trash to maybe 300 to 500 a day. Thus is still gonna take awhile to get a token, but a little easier to swallow in terms of the price hike.

I may just be a paranoid, but sometimes I wonder if this site is a smale scale goverment experiment to manufacture hypothetical real world scenarios to relate to, extremely rapid-like.

Anyways, im an underachiever in rl.. `Artist`, sure, but without a tablet i don`t care about customs. I just like my HA and events for clothes, so this token hike doesn`t affect me...but,
I liked the bank intrest, kept me in good spirits though made little money weekly. kind`ve bummed yo

I agree with the price hike, although I feel it may have been too steep. I also realize though, that I can't simply use my account's currency (BP, GP, TP, etc) to make a judgment call on that. We tend to ride right in the middle of the spectrum. Aywas Middle Class, yo.

However, I can't objectively see why anyone on this site is entitled to "cheap" customs, even newbies. Like many people here, getting a custom was something I worked hard for, and I looked forward to. Back then the customs I wanted were 3GP designs and 3-5mil for the item to make it. Now, the customs I want are 3-5 times that amount. And although I've established more ways to earn money (ie, selling custom designs), the effort I've put into getting customs is just the same. While I agree that getting a custom is something cool and awesome, especially in the way Aywas handles it, it is not the core feature of the site. There are thousands of site pets to collect (and use to explore with), and plenty of other objectives and goals to reach. No user is "losing out" by not having a custom, and therefore, no user should be "entitled" to a custom by demanding some sort of lower price or accessibility, for whatever reason.

I'm truly sorry for those of you who feel jealous of people who sit on "hoards" of customs. I've seen people throw around words like "rich" and "disposable income" and all sorts of privilege swinging in order to try to be hurtful to those who have more than they do. There's truly no reason for that kind of attitude, and it hurts the spirit of the community -a community that actually works toward getting people free customs, among other things, to help them feel at home.

You want my solution? Everyone gets a free custom item on a special day (anniversary, christmas, birthday, whatever) that allows them to create a blue level common Ara or Ay species. There's your one, free, entitled custom. If you don't want to work toward hard goals for the rest, I'm sorry, but this site simply won't cater to that attitude. -Nomad
