Site Update
A short announcement to state that MBCs and RBCs have received a small price-hike to hopefully combat inflation. There's something to be said when a coin is only 3-4 GP, that's far too little even for these two!
Yes, this will inevitably cause upset, but the RBC & MBC queues combined almost equal the BC and LBC ones (GP coins!). Meaning that with the site growing that we need to raise prices to equalize with the amount being bought. We're not trying to make it impossible to earn things, but there's a LOT of BP out there and more and more geodes... so we have to make the coins worth their intended value.
Thank you for the understanding.

We actually considered breeding quotas, but abandoned the idea because people would simply get their friends/others to submit breedings for them, or sell their available "slots", leading to no benefit to the queue. It could potentially cause more problems with disputes between accounts, such as when someone is banned. We don't get told ahead of time about price raises even as staff.

I don't feel personally offended at all... I think it's unfair to everyone to double the price suddenly. Raising it by 50% would be okay by me (but that's just my opinion). What I'm most upset about is that anyone has the chance of getting derp quality babies from a coin that just doubled in price.

This wouldn't bother me if I hadn't /just now/ got enough for a RBC... *sigh* Oh well...

I would like to agree with several of the users in this thread: If you're going to hike the prices, try for overall better quality.
I put this at the top because it is what I most want you to see: WHY IN GODS NAME do you charge people to submit their own predicts? They have to pay you in order to reduce the workload on your artists? That's just silly.
Make predicts free, at the very least - you could even discount breedings by the amount that you would otherwise pay artists, which is even better than having your artists do them since users can't complain/demand fixes on predicts they chose to submit.
That said: I know that you're not getting a lot of volunteers for artists, but that's because you're basically expecting them to be volunteer artists. The prices you pay per baby aren't all that great considering what you charge. A user with a premium discount pays 23 GP for a lesser breeding coin, while an artist gets a maximum of 10 GP for drawing both the babies - less than half of the GP Aywas takes in. Aywas gets a mighty 75 GP for it's full Breeding Coins, yet pays artists an average of 15 GP (50%-50% split on 10 or 20 GP) for their work.
I do believe Aywas added a cash-pay contract option, but you'd have to spend well under a half hour per breeding to earn U.S. minimum wage with that option. I calculated it out at one point, but I can't remember exactly what it was. Not worth doing, unless you want to crank out 5-10 minute overlay babies or you're just in it for fun.
You are going to get some artists willing to work at low wage, but it's going to be very few of decent quality.

While I think this is necessary and a good idea, I'd like to suggest that during future price increases, something might be done about the items in user shops. Perhaps they could be automatically removed back to your inventory. It is rather frustrating to go to bed and wake up with people having gotten a wicked "deal" out of your shop because you were not personally aware of the price hike in time to adjust your prices.

@ Graymare - Emm, perhaps make a rule that you are not allowed to sell your slots? I dunno, I never did understand these sellable slots thing, how can you sell something you don't currently have? That shouldn't even be allowed unless your pendant/slots/whatever s are actually regenerated.

I'd like to mega-agree with Syleni - This is probably most unfair to people who were trying to sell MBCs and RBCs at a reasonable price and had them snatched away by people who are faster to read the news.

@Era: You get GP/BP back for your breeding if your predicts are accepted, so your breeding is discounted.
@Mezzeko: I was going to suggest that as well. I'm not a coder, so I have no idea how easy it would be to do, but giving each person a limit on how many of each type of breeding they can do a month and making the slots unsellable may be a decent solution.
@Syleni: Again, I'm not a coder, so I don't know how easily that could be implemented, but that's an excellent point and idea.

I am glad to see the price hike.

Sorry, this isn't a "social injustice" - the price changes affect everyone, equally. You don't need luck to get BP, it only requires some strategy and investment of time.
