Congrats! And I have to say, the animated pets? Cute idea, but... look at the quality of that thing. It's horrible. And the other one I saw was terrible quality too. It really doesn't fit in with the rest of the pets IMO.

The nice smooth edges of normal pets is because they're pngs. A gif doesn't have feathered transparency - it's either solid, or invisible, which gives the edges a pixelated look unless it has a solid background.

That said, I thought the animations would be a little more - more - than what I've seen. So far it's just moving certain clusters of pixels up and down, not actual animations (except for blinking). I'm glad I didn't buy raffle tickets, though I will say congrats to the person who won.

I'd still really like to know - Can those of us with animation skills upload animated pets as gifs?

@Ellie
No. Animated pets are not available to the general public.

Ah, that's a shame. I think there are some users could really do some amazing things. I'm not real impressed with the couple animated pets so far.

I agree, they seem too rough to be Aywas quality. Still cute, don't get me wrong, but, maybe a different...method could have been used in making them.

I wonder if Flash would have been a better choice. It is quite cute though despite the noisy pixels from the Gif format.
