Evening, folks! Inspired by recent events, we're all going to gather 'round and talk about some general Internet and online game red flags so we can continue to have a safe community.
It has come to our attention that at least one account has been mass-spamming other players with similar messages, offering free avatar art and asking for IM accounts. These kinds of scams are usually an attempt to get your personal information, solicit minors or phish for account passwords. Staff can't do anything about offsite activities, which is why most people with bad intentions try to work through instant messengers.
Never, ever give someone personally identifying information or click on links from people you don't know. When opting to give a user your offsite contact information, do so with a pound of caution and at your own risk. Don't take candy from strangers, let alone tell them your favorite kind!
If you have acted on a message like the one described above, we strongly suggest you block the IM account(s) and change your password(s) to be on the safe side.
If you ever encounter a user or message that looks suspicious to you or just gives you that bad feeling in your gut, please do not hesitate to contact a staff member immediately. People like this aren't exactly going to waltz up to our doors, but they will go to players that look established or unsuspecting, so we really rely on you guys to let us know when something is amiss. Thank you!

Call me dumb, but I had this same message as well and I was very dumb enough to give the person my MSN address and s/he finally showed me this "avatar drawing" through photobucket and so far I never discover virus and such from the link. BUT the person did say s/he'd draw the real me if I send her/him my photo, but I refused to do that.
So I already blocked this person but I still have the MSN address so id you'd like me to report his MSN address at least I can message you, Eri

I got one of these, but did not report it. Why? Well because for one, once I said I had no aim they did not press me for it, and two the cropped picture they showed me actually looked a great deal like my ha. I just figured them for a slightly weird person.
But as I read all these comments...I"m starting to think this might be one of those people who try to make "friends" with kids and try to get them to give out personal info ...like address. /shudders/ if thats true, thats just disturbing on a whole new level, much more then a weird person or a spammer or a attention whore.
If they somehow get around the ban... Aywas staff might be in their right to report it to the authorities, just in case it IS a child lurer. I really am suspecting it might by what people are saying.

Yep, I got that message as well. I was wondering why they didn't upload the image and posted the link, instead of wanting to show through IM, anyway xD. Thanks for keeping us safe, Eri!

Was only a matter of time before jerks came here lol. I think Aywas users are smarter than average though I would be surprised if anyone fell for things like that here. Also, our staff is so much more attentive than other game sites I can't even imagine why they would waste their time here.

Wow, you guys above your messages seem like a pedofile with a fetish. I wonder if they realize the majority of people playing here are adults. That actually is kind of scary. Doesn't sound like they want account info to me. Sounds like they want erotic crap like this is a sex site 0.o WEIRDOS

Actually I got one of these solicitation messages, made me weary. At first, it confused me, then I was like "OH COOL, FREE ART!" cause I thought someone was just being nice. Then, they said the pic turned out kinda nekkid...and I also noticed that they had JUST joined Aywas. They did ask for my IM info, and I flat out told them that, I don't know them and they had just joined the site, so...if they really wanted to show me that bad, upload it to photobucket or something XD They actually did too o.o and I saw the pic and....I mean, doesn't remind me of my avatar, save for the sunglasses.
