Cancer Awareness Charity Drive
brought to you by Chunkio (#5800)

collectable_breastcancerribbon.gif

In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and in conjunction with Chunkio's event choice, Aywas is hosting a charity donation drive to support cancer research, treatment and recognition, as well as the people it affects--both patients and families alike.

I would personally like to thank everyone ahead of time for any donations made during this event. I know how devastating this disease can be and the damage it can leave in its wake. My heart goes out to anyone who is fighting a battle against it and may all the strength in the world be by their side. It also goes out to their family members and loved ones who are left with its lasting effects. I hope this small contribution goes towards a brighter future for a cure to this horrible disease. -- Chunkio

Tell Your Story
We want to take a moment to invite you to share your story with us. <3 The thread will be permanently located in General Chat and we are eager to hear what you have to say, so, if you're willing, we'd love to hear from you.

Want to know how you can help this cause? Great! We have lots of ways for you to participate in this event, so let me tell you about them!

Direct Cancer Charity Donations

suune_cancersuune.pngvelox_cancervelox.png

Tier 1 - Donate $10+ to a reputable cancer charity of your choice and receive a Cancer Drylis and Cancer Reve.
Tier 2 - Donate $20+ to a reputable cancer charity of your choice and receive a Cancer Suune.
Tier 3 - Donate $30+ to a reputable cancer charity of your choice and receive a Cancer Velox.

These tiers stack, so that means if you donate $30 or more to a cancer charity, you will receive not only the Velox, but the Suune, Drylis and Reve as well! All four pets are a "special" rarity, which means they cannot be obtained through the Phoenix Tree or Rogue Zaps; you must donate to receive them.

Custom Auctions for Charity
We are also putting the following five customs up for auction! All bids must be made in USD and the full amount of the highest bid must be donated to a cancer charity (winner's choice). Click on the pet you're interested in to be taken to its auction thread! The deadline to place a bid is Thursday October 20th at 11:59 PM Aywas time.

collectable_breastcancerribbon.gif
To show our thanks for your support, everyone who donates any amount to a cancer charity will receive this item!

WHEN YOU MAKE A DONATION for the Cancer Drylis, Reve, Suune or Velox, or for the Breast Cancer Ribbon, PM ME (#17) PROOF OF DONATION to receive your item and pet(s)! Remember, the charity has to be a reputable cancer charity. If you have a question regarding the charity you'd like to donate to or want to pay with another currency, PM me and we'll talk.

But wait, we're not done yet!
More Customs!

In the spirit of support and giving, Chunkio has also requested that we open up a free custom thread!
You may submit a Metal/Bronze/Blue compatible custom (Ay or Ara) for either yourself OR a friend that somehow represents the theme of this event by using ribbons or embodying one of the emblems from a chart like this.
One per account. The thread will be open until Thursday October 20th at 11:59 PM Aywas time.

.. Okay, phew! I think that about does it.
We hope that the event touches you and look forward to the drive being a success so that we can make a difference together. Thanks for your support!

This is a wonderful event. I'll be attempting a custom to show support, and will probably throw my support behind St. Jude's as well. :3

This is a wonderful idea. ^^ We have been having a rough time financially lately. Hopefully tomorrow will be better (pay day lol). And I wish I could make a custom pet. I know what I'd like done, but I can't make edits. And no GP to commission. ^^"

I'm so happy that I wasn't alone in wishing that this was available. *PM'ed Slash a matter of a week ago about doing something for Breast Cancer this month*

Also, I would LOVE to donate, but of course, I can't.
Any charity worth the money that they receive from donations requres a Credit Card.
So... seems I won't be able to get those pets, as much as I would love to.

Especially considering my Great-Grandmother has had, and beaten, Breast Cancer twice now I think. At least once [may be just a threat or fear of it coming back. I 'unno].

But, Oh well. I'm s.o.l. for the pets *pets the pets [as bad as that sentence sounds XDD]

Thanks for runnin' this!

I am not sure if I have the funds to do this or not, but I am soooooo happy that it's being done. These events are why I love this site so much, it's proof that we as a community can do good things and support causes that are so very important. YAY!

I have two charities in mind. Does it have to be one or can we donate to more than one? I'm not doing it for the pets, although it is a nice incentive. I'm doing it for two people, both of whom I knew. I lost a good neighbor to cancer and my younger sister's friend lost her father to cancer. I'd ask my father who died of what, but I feel like it'd be perceived as insensitive. The only thing I do remember is hearing the news of both deaths. I can't imagine what each family is going through, but I know that they are living each day the best they can. That's all we can do right?

will see what i can do on various fronts - as i am a cancer survivor and my other half is presently battling liver cancer, it is near and dear, though the same situation limits my cashflow...but we'll do as much as we can. would it be possible to post a list of charities? folks who have been through it end up on a hit list for every fundraiser in the universe, and at this point i roundfile all of them rather than try to sift the wheat from the chaff. also - your auction pets are handsome, but a few seem a tad morbid, under the circumstances?

(Note to those without personal plastic - many stores now offer prepaid MC and Visa debit cards that work a treat - many cost less than $5 to set up and all are reloadable and have little or no monthly fees.)

I can;t donate , but I hope I can find someone to draw a design. I'd love to get a pet representing my grandma and uncle and their fight with their cancers!
