Let's have a moment of silence for those who were lost ten years ago, and for how our world has changed.

I hope all of you remain safe today.

Even here in Canada, it was scary for us. All our teachers went into a panic not 10 minutes after it happened and tossed the entire school into the gym. None of us had any idea what was going on... and everyone was worried, especially here in the capital. We gave a moment of silence that day and each September 11 since. It was a horrible thing; I wish the best to those who lost someone, those who survived, and the memories of those who passed.

My sister got married yesterday, so she's going on a flight out to France today, my cousin's going down to Florida, and my aunt, uncle, and two other cousins are flying out to California, all from New York/New Jersey area airports today like on 9/11 ten years ago... -_- But I guess their safety (let's hope) will prove how much more security conscious we are now. 9/11 was the day America lost whatever innocence it had left, along with the lives of all of those who died. I was 17 when it happened and just starting college in New Jersey, so although I wasn't directly affected myself, I knew people who were. And in the years that followed, America went from a flag-waving country to one that lost all patriotic spirit due to the actions of its leaders... Either way, my life was never the same again... there was never the optimism of the '90s or of high school again. I just wish there was more we as average Americans could've done to prevent the tragedy as well as afterward... I remember the grim fact that the Red Cross received more blood than it could use for 9/11 victims.

I was 6, and I can still remember the moment that the plane struck the first tower.
Honestly (and I hate to admit it), I was kind of excited at the time, because I didn't understand what was fully going on. All I knew if that I got off of school.

Now, looking back, its horrific to watch all of the programs they have every year.

Anyone who had to go through that traumatic event - whether they lived or died - are in my thoughts today.

I remember that day so clearly...it still hurts to think about it. I still cry. The one thing I remember is my mother having the tv on in the kitchen, leaning on the the island with her elbows on the counter and her face in her hands, crying and praying. I remember the news broadcast when I came home from school that day....My dad didn't come home until later that night...I would have lost him had he not forgotten about a seminar he was supposed to attend that day in the Windows of the World room on the 110th floor....he lost 43 friends that day, and he has made a book of all their pictures and their badges/patches/dogtags if he got them...I learned much that day, and I hope that such a time never comes back again. --N

I was 8 when the attacks happened... I remember the panic and grief that spread throughout my school like wildfire. None of the students really knew what was happening, but the teachers sure did... RIP to those who lost their lives on 9/11, and my condolences to those who didn't.

"and for how our world has changed." yes. the innocents who died in 9/11 were the first and they were followed by all the soldiers and civilians killed by the war it triggered. i was too small to understand the full horror of what it unleashed in 2001 but with every year i live the casualties of war, terrorism, hatred and discrimination just pile on and i feel it more and more. love and compassion go out to all, the world doesn't have enough of it.

Stay safe! I was only eight, but it doesn't even feel like ten years ago...

I remember that day all to well. I was at work and when we heard about the first plane on the radio everyone thought it was just a horrible accident. And then the radio announced the second plane hitting the other tower. Then we knew the world would be forever different.

My prayers go out to everyone that lost someone that day. We shall never forget.
