Something Interesting

Site Update

I just heard something interesting. Apparently, if you add the following user to your friends list, something cool will appear on the site for you to try out, before we make our final decision on releasing it..... Or something along those lines ;) Rumor has it, if you add this user to your friends list, you will be able to do a lot of cool things with the rest of your friends!

Something Awesome (#27037)

I know i've added this suspicious looking user myself ;) Why don't you give it a try!

If you are going to comment on this newspost, ensure you are respecting the amount of time this coder has put into the site already and this feature. Any disrespect will be met with a reminder or a warning. If you can't share your thoughts nicely and respectfully then refrain from posting.

I'm kind of on the fence about this new feature. =/ If it IS implemented please have a disable button though, I've never been a fan of Facebook's set up and this is similar. But I'm more with everyone else on how the current glitches should of been fixed rather then working on some big new feature. As much as we all love new things added to the site I think is is a little more important to fix broken codes that are slowly, but surely, going to ruin the site at one point. :C Thankyou though for trying to add new and more things that us users would like. ~Jess

Also, if you go on the IRC network undernet and geekshed and go into the #PHP channels, I am sure you could find someone willing to code. I however cannot pay people at the moment or else I would be using them myself. If you want/need help getting there msg me :)

There are many avenues for finding coders, assuming they don't have to be in the general area. All I can say in run ads on different sites (even Craigslist), newspaper if you want local, and when someone responds communicate with them about every bit of what the job will require. Explain that we are all horrible little gremlins that are never happy. ^^; Unfortunately I know no coders. Or at least none on Aywas coding level. I never realized the coders had been put through such 'horrible' treatment. I always thought the users here were more mature than most places.

I don't understand why everyone has to freak the heck out. 8C Rebel and whoever else is coding are trying their hardest to make Aywas a place people want to be. Communication is a big part of being a community. Sure there are glitches, but there are glitches in everything, even life. Maybe just kindly suggest rather than throw a temper tantrum. So some people don't like the new chat bar, then minimize it in the bottom right corner >.> stop being rude.

"Now was not the time to cause problems." // That's true. However I think the coders need to be better directed as to the priority that users place for progress the site. The coder can't always know that if they haven't been here as long as a lot of us users... and I think that miscommunication is why it is so discouraging for them? If coders were instructed to set their priorities towards making the site run as smooth as possible, and thinking about adding new features on the side (instead of the other way around) - the results would be more pleasant. At least from my own perspective. Eventually user opinions will shift toward feeling like the site is well-managed enough to not have most of the focus on maintaining current and old features, which is when it would definitely be healthy and positive for the site to start prioritizing new features like this one.

Hell I could even host aywas chat, we can handle over 5000 people at once on the network.

I think you people are missing the point with being mean towards the coders. If a site has a reputation for having a terrible user base who constantly rag on them, new coders aren't going to want to work for Aywas BECAUSE of the bad reputation it has.

Sure, this was a terrible time to implement the changes, since everyone is on edge with scav, and we are struggling to get some last minute things done before the deadline tomorrow, but seriously? Grow up. If you don't like it, don't use it. Simple as that.

I want to old glitches fixed just as much as the next person, if not more, but seriously? We are going to spend precious time complaining about something when we could be doing something useful else where? The site is running fine now, just go off and do what you need to.

Just remember something: Whee we can't get any new coders because the users made them all quit and they went somewhere else where they are more appreciated and not bagged on all the time, you know who to blame.

The entitlement on this site is sickening sometimes. When new things are released, glitches happen. Stop bawling and grow up.

As the wife of someone who works tech support for a large company with it's own implemented software, coding is a "b " and any patch/update/upgrade/install can cause issues. Not saying that this did. Just saying that perhaps in the adding of the new program, some of the things that were already miss aligning themselves got more out of whack. And possibly, without out saying so, the new item was added in with some possible patches for those outdated or corrupted pieces of code. Coders are not easy to keep happy. Mine needs good food. lol.
