Rules
Okay guys, it's time for another reminder about the copyright rules on Aywas.
For those of you who don't know, there is a copyright board found here.
You must create a thread on this board if you create a design that is based on something that is not your original design. This means if you reference anything that you don't own, you submit it here before you make it. If the copyright has expired on whatever it is you have based your design on, it must be submitted to the board so my team can just check.
It's always been a rule that if something is instantly recognisable as what it was based on, it is against the rules. People seem to have forgotten this little fact, so here's a reminder on that.
I've heard things said like, "Disney isn't going to sue a pet site." Disney will do this, and they have in the past. This is not an excuse, and by saying this and avoiding the copyright panel, you are putting the site at risk. It is their copyright, not Aywas, which is why we have the rules in place to protect Aywas.
If you have any questions, they can most likely be found here.
You can also shoot me a message via pms (or use my snazzy new email - [email protected] :D )
Remember - The use of making designs based of copyright designs is a privilege, not a right you are entitled to. If you break the copyright rules, you put the site at risk and will face a punishment, which may be a permanent ban.
If these copyright rules keep on being broken, there may be discussion of removing the privilege of letting you design things that are not based on your own original work. Please think about your actions in the future so you don't ruin this privilege for the people who do follow the rules.
I hate grumping at you about this, but it is needed.
Thank you!

Let's face it: Disney would sue it's own mum, and then have her shot by hunters/trampled by wildebeest etc. Aywas has these rules for good reasons - A messy lawsuit = huge financial problem = no more Aywas! :) 'Pretty much as simple as that.

Yeah, businesses can't just be like, "Well, what are the odds of Disney doing something about it?" Regardless of the likelihood of getting into trouble for it, it would be unethical and stupid for a business to allow that. :/
Even if I wish I could make customs that are clearly based on certain characters. XD

I have to say on this original topic -- YOU GO, AYWAS! Commerical copyright violation is certainly NO JOKE, and I certainly do NOT want this website to go under! (Of course, I can't afford to submit customs anyway, so it makes no difference to me, but ah well!)

zomg u gaiz disney and square-enix and nintendo and valve and whatever else wont sue ur all so selfish ):
Sarcasm aside, I agree this is a good reminder. I think it should be like put on the custom making page or something so new people won't go submitting copyright designs without realizing the site doesn't allow it without permission.

Or just like put in a reminder "don't forget to follow the rules" with a link to the custom rules which include copyright rules. I'm saying this because a lot of newbs I think might come from Subeta (where they violate copyright laws left and right) without realizing that things work differently around here x3

Thanks for the updates, Aeth. :) I'm sorry to hear this has been giving you a hard time; the staff works hard on Aywas so being patient is the least us users can do. We're lucky we even get to make customs on a pet site, I think. Most I've been on don't even allow overlays.

Disney might very well sue a pet site, but they can't object to things they took from other cultures being used by other people too. Literally, they can't. It's public domain.
Just clarifying. ^_^

MANY HA items in the forums ARE based on copyrighted things, mainly anime hair and clothing. They are being accepted anyvvay.

...at the same time, Disney can't really copyright castles. It wasn't really their idea. :P

I unfortunately don't have eyes within every aspect of the site, and I'm not the only one accepting customs so things do get past me. xD You're welcome to send me a pm reporting a custom if you know it's against copyright policy, so I can actually look into it. :)
