New Game

We now have a Trivia game! Test your knowledge (or luck, whatever) against the trivia game every week to win items and/or BP.
Discussing answers with other player(s) is considered cheating and will be punishable as so. Please don't do it.
EDIT: It looks like our nightly cron ate the data saved for the trivia, so we fixed that glitch and I made a new one. Enjoy the new trivia questions!

Helping Tornado Victims
Site Update
We were asked by Senpai and Morris (#16) to do a donation drive for victims of the tornadoes that hit the southern US. Springdragon (#650) made us these three lovely designs to give to anyone who donates funds to a reputable charity, like the Salvation Army or Red Cross.

Donate $5.00 or more and get the Sors.
Donate $10.00 or more and get the Chiro and the Sors.
Donate $20.00 or more and get the Nexus, Chiro, and Sors.
Donate directly to an appropriate charity of your choice, then forward the receipt to [email protected]. Include your user ID so the pet(s) can be sent to you as a custom. We have decided to make donation pets as "customs" instead of "site pets" so that they can be exclusive to donators.
I will update this news post with the total amount donated by Aywas users at the end of the week so you can get an idea of how much we've helped. :)

Art Gallery Notice
Site Update

As we near Sunday (when the first six Art Gallery winning submissions will be selected and displayed), I find myself getting a bit concerned with the entries. To be frank, like 90% of them aren't following the rules. An entry that does not follow the rules will not win a prize, regardless of how good the entry is.
Common errors
- Not putting username and ID on the image
- the image not being Aywas related (seriously? Why do people keep uploading seemingly random images?)
- the work having a copyright notice on it (this wasn't explained in the Art Gallery, but it is in the TOS - everything you submit to us that is Aywas-related becomes our property, so you cannot have your copyright on an Aywas image)
Don't forget - the deadline for this is 11:59 PM on SATURDAY, as the six winners will be announced on Sunday. Don't be late, there is SP and a rare item on the line!

(PS: Spensey-poo is going to be rapid-fire stocking the plush shop at 10:00 PM)

Plush Series 2 & Cinco de Mayo
Items

Spense says:
'Kay, so, as promised, here is Series 2 of the plushes I've been making:
Plush Series 2

I will release a new set of plushes on May 19th, which will also be when I retire Plush Series 1 from my store. Fortunately you have plenty of time to prepare, yes?
In other news, it was so decreed that we would release some pets for Cinco de Mayo. Therefore, I have harassed and tormented our lovely Xero from the Pet Store into stocking some Mexico pride-themed pets:

We are lovely and way too brightly colored for Xero!
There's nothing more fun than tempting a couple thousand people into his shop so he goes nuts (low prices do that). Amirite? Of course I'm right. I'm always right.

Xero says:
Hey! Who do you think you are?!

Spense says:
I'm Spenser, duh... are you suffering from memory loss already? o_0 Better hurry back to your shop before I decide to throw a party outside of it. :D
Farewell Ay citizens! If you need me, I will be at the Plush Shop for a while...counting the money I stole from you. (:

March Xaoc Results
Contests
Your long-awaited Xaoc contest results have arrived! We tried a little something different with the contest entries by instructing you to create a visual representation of a Xaoc that fit a "March" theme, so this time you could take a page out of the Scav manual and use IRL materials. I was blown away by how varied and creative all the entries were, so I think I'm going to try and encourage different types of media for future contests. But right now let's get to the results!
You guys made it stupidly hard to narrow the field, but here's the final standings:
First Place - Grand Prize Winner: Xaoc Voucher
Lion & Lamb - Saturn #479
The saying "in like a lion, out like a lamb" is generally used to describe March weather, but this is actually referring to the constellations of Leo and Aries rising and setting in the night sky. This Xaoc is a lamb with a lion skin draped around it with the constellation of Aries between its eyes and Leo above. Dandelions, to me, are the signal it's finally spring because as soon as it hits March they spring up everywhere and I do mean EVERYWHERE. What is a more perfect representation of a lion/lamb than a weed that blooms as a great yellow fuzzy disc and eventually turns into a great white puffball to disperse it's seeds all over your yard.
Click for full.

What is more blatantly March than the idiom "In like a lion, out like a lamb"? This image interprets an age-old phrase in a beautiful way while pulling in other themes, both surprising and familiar. Every time I went back to this picture I found a new detail to appreciate or one that told a deeper story. Bravo!
Second Place
Effigy of a Springtime Xaoc - Araxa #1117
Spring is slow to arrive in my part of the world and March isn't much about blooming flowers but more about things beginning to thaw and sprout. I made my little xaoc entirely out of things found in my woods, plus a little horse hair donated from my horses (which also seemed appropriate, as this is the month that they begin to shed).
I made his frame from red dogwood twigs and tied it together with horse hair.
Click for album.

Thoroughly embraced the theme through execution by making a "little god" Xaoc out of nature's materials. Very creative!
Third Place
Hinamatsuri - Ryou #449
The Japanese Doll Festival, or Girls' Day, is held on March 3. Platforms covered with a red carpet are used to display a set of ornamental dolls representing the Emperor, Empress, attendants, and musicians in traditional court dress of the Heian period.

Absolutely stunning coloration with a surprising take on the March theme--it definitely honors the day well!
Fourth Place
Woman's Day - ForthSanity #15928
The lit candle symbolizes the will to fight for our rights, and the torn clothes symbolize our struggles for equality. As for the pink flowers, they both symbolizes feminine qualities and the beginning of spring. Also, the background colours represent the warmth of spring, on it's way to thaw the chills of winter. The clovers symbolize the month and luck for the rest of the year...in the on going struggle for equality between men and women.
Click for full.

A symbolic piece with meaningful, carefully-chosen details and a lovely medium.
Fifth Place
The Bringer of Spring - Yoolee #802
The Bringer of Spring wanders the forest in its robe of moss, leaving trails of wildflowers as it wakes the trees.
Click for full.

Both notions of awakening and enchantment are palpable in the details of this mesmerizing image. Well done!
Prize Pot for places 2-5:
10 SP
Flame Custom Crystal
15 GP
Gold Custom Orb
I will be contacting the winners shortly (don't fret if you don't get a message from me tonight as I do sleep occasionally).
Congratulations to all of our winners and thank you to everyone who participated! I encourage you to check out all of the entries here if you haven't already, because there are many, many amazing ones. Our next contest will be coming up in June, so keep your eye out for that!
Oh, and make sure you read the exciting news post below! :3

New Features
New Feature
It's been so long since I could use the News Type New Feature C:
Okay, so we're trotting out a couple of new features for you here at the start of May - and be excited to know even more are coming! But for now these should keep you busy, aye?

First, the Art Gallery. In this feature, you can submit Aywas-related artwork. Every week on Sunday, we will select our six favorite works of art from the submissions and they will be displayed on the page. The prize always includes 1 SP and a random desirable item.

Second, we have the new Premium Rock Quarry. In this feature, premium members can dig in the quarry for a rock every day. They can then either sell their rocks or exchange them for an account-bound currency called Premium Points, which can be used in this shop: Premium Outlet.
The premium outlet store is a bit scarce and has limited quantity items as we wait to see how the PP currency will stabilize in our economy. Once we have a good idea of what the value of a PP is, we'll stock unlimited items in there, even some unique to the shop!

Next up is the new Cooking High Score List! The cooking high score list gives you points every time you complete a cooking quest, weighted by the amount of time it takes (so a master's quest is weighted more than a beginner's quest, as a beginner could make more quests in the time that a master does).
Also, to tip our hats to the individuals who have worked hard to be in the top 10 highest leveled cooks - if a winning pet is in the top 10 highest leveled cooks, that pet's owner gets an extra 1 SP.

As promised, we have the Gourmet Eating High Score List!. Eat one of the gourmet food items from the gourmet cooking feature to start racking up points for this score list.

Last, there are some new items showing up in the Desert Explore region. Turn them into the Museum Collections to get a prize. These plants might also be used in gourmet cooking in the future...hmm...who knows!
Okay, I think I'm at the end of my excitement... whew... here's a fun fact: in three hours I'll have been awake for 24 hours. Most excellent. Prepping new features is fun!
