Pet Shop Restocked!
Pets
As some of you may have noticed, the Little Pet Shop of Horrors has received a new stock of pets! They're eager and awaiting new loving owners!
In case you weren't aware, the Pet Shop is on a stock rotation schedule with the stock changing every 3 months. That means the pets from the last stock were removed and retired, so you can no longer get them. So make sure to grab the pets from the current stock while you can!
If you want to have the chance of getting a design of yours into the pet shop, go ahead and submit them to the Pet Coloration Submissions forum. Most of the submitted designs will be put into Adventure, but some random designs will be kept to go into the pet shop!
If your design is now in the pet shop please contact Kyu (#1010) for your free copy. That's right, if your design is accepted and put in the shop you get a free copy. That could save you a good amount of BP!

You survived 31 days of October on Aywas, congratulations!
Halloween is silly this year--what kind of holiday falls on a Wednesday? Here on Aywas, we will be celebrating Halloween through the weekend, so lets kick it off right!
The Seasonal Shop is now open for business!
What is Halloween without awesome treats? From Spooky Treebark Jerky to Hard Cider, we have your energy and hunger needs deliciously covered!
And there's even a goodie bag to grab!
Inside you'll find 1000 BP, a Melo Pumpkin, and Candycorn Fortune Cookies.
Take a part of Halloween 2012 with you through the Moonlit Tree Wallpaper and Moonlit Night site theme! The wallpaper is equippable through your wardrobe and the site theme is accessible through your account settings once you activate it.
To battle things that go "bump" in the night, we have this creepy lineup of weaponry and armor!
Or, if you'd rather stay cuddled up in bed hiding from the dark and the monsters under your bed, you might want to take one of these fauna with you for some company.
Looks like someone went digging in the Witch's Garden for these three items. Each unlocks a different forum title achievement!

Thankfully, she didn't notice, but it was probably because she was too busy brewing all of these potions:
Here's a rundown of what each one does, along with a pet example. You can find the rest in the Aywapedia. :3
Evil Star Vial - Turns your pet into 1 of 3 Lunarises.
Fading Potion - Turns your pet into 1 of 6 Hybrids.
Hallowed Bottle - Turns your pet into 1 of 4 exclusive colorations.
Poison Berry Potion - Turns your pet into 1 of 3 Vions.
We're also bringing back some old favorites!
The Evil Breeding Coin is returning alongside fan-favorites, OCCs and OCOs.
I was told I'd be burned at the stake if OCCs and OCOs were made findable in Adventure, so they are in the shop for 10 Halloween Pumpkins each.
OCOs and OCCs are still /flooding/ the market from last year and their going rate reflects this surplus.
So, instead of dumping thousands more into the economy through Adventure, we're making them buyable for findable currency. They're still obtainable for old and new players alike, but not to the extreme.
But we also have some more brand new items!
I am particularly excited about this next one.
The Ghostly Book is a BC add-on that will tell the artist to add ghostly wisps/spirits to your offspring!
If you're somehow not in the Halloween mood yet, maybe these HA clothes will help. c:
The ghost is achieved by a standalone item, Draped Ghost Sheet.
In the middle is the Scarecrow set, which has 10 pieces.
And lastly is the Spider Witch set, with 5 pieces.

What am I forgetting?
Oh yeah, the shopkeepers!
This is the Spellcast Potion, and it is very special. If you like customs and alternate lines, you will want to have one or twelve of these in your inventory.
Introducing the 2012 Halloween Shopkeepers!
The Spellcast Potion allows you to make a Garu, Woolith or Insi custom with up to 30% edits!
Like all shopkeepers, if you like the above colorations, you can use your potion to submit one of those, but we encourage you to customize yours! The PSDs currently available are the raw PSDs Krista worked with to make each of these specific colorations, so we'll probably offer simplified versions in a few days. :3
And, of course, we have creepy pets galore for sale as standalones in the seasonal shop.
Need some help snagging these pets? You might like the Blood Brain Potion
This potion will turn your active pet into a random coloration from the Seasonal Shop. You can pick this one up in the Trash Shop.
Along side the Blood Brain Potion, you will find the Spooky Forest Potion. This will turn your active pet into one from the Spooky Forest!
Speaking of the Spooky Forest, we will be leaving that open through Sunday November 4th at 11:59 p.m., at which time the Pumpkin Patch, Famine's Potion Brewing, the Garden, and the Lab will also be shut down. I will also be adding small batches of customs to the Giant Cauldron this weekend at all different times to try and hit as many timezones as possible. (read: You can stop madly refreshing until then. XD)
The Seasonal Shop will be open through Tuesday November 6th at 11:59 p.m. to give you a week to grab all the goodies!

Just wanted to toss up a little note here that Yasu and I both miraculously have power. :3 I will be setting up the Seasonal Shop momentarily, which will take a few hours to completely roll out.
As always, we will NOT issue any refunds for purchases made prior to the shop being officially released via the news. So keep your pants on!

Stormy Monday Gettin' Me Down

Hello, folks! Happy Monday!
Though, if you're in the path of "Frankenstorm," it's probably not so happy.
I wanted to let everyone know that we plan on doing business as usual here in the world of Aywas--power and safety permitting. Yasu lives on the eastern coast of the States and I have not heard from him since yesterday evening, and there's a couple crucial things he has to take care of in order for the Seasonal Shop and its prizes to work as planned.
His well-being, of course, comes first. If we are to experience any delays, I will keep you posted and compensate for any issues.
Rumor has it my area might lose power, so I will be leaving the staff notes on what to do if that does happen for an extended period, but even with instructions there's still some things I need to be around for.
So! Plan is to move forward as normal, but we'll play it by ear depending on the developments.

The Giant Cauldron
Site Update
The Giant Cauldron sat quiet and unused for nearly a year, gathering dust and providing a home for many a spider and their webs. As the clock struck midnight on October first, the heavy kettle suddenly creaked as though it heard the coming call of Halloween, responding to its magic. With each day in October, more and more dust miraculously got whisked away, and a strange liquid began to bubble up out of air.
Now, all that's needed are a few plants, and the real magic will begin.
The Giant Cauldron is stocked full of unique custom pets like this--one of which can possibly be yours if you have the magic touch.
Here's how things work!
A custom's image will appear on the Cauldron page and remain there for 30 minutes.
During that time, there will be a line of text that gives you a hint on what the upcoming recipe will be, like this:
It is currently unknown how to make this pet, but it requires 4 different plants
(Note: The necessary Shiny Cauldron will count as one of the ingredients.)
When 30 minutes has elapsed, refresh and the required ingredients will be displayed, like this:
To create this pet, you need this recipe:
Similar to Frankenstein's Lab, you can hover over the item images to see how many of each are required. However, this is a first-come, first-serve feature, so don't dilly-dally if you want a particular custom! If you are the first person to successfully turn in all the required ingredients, you will receive the custom as a new pet in your lair.
Once a custom is claimed, a new one will show up and the 30 minute timer will begin again.
If you see a message that says the cauldron has gone quiet, that means it's taking a break (read: it means Erienne is probably sleeping or something and will add more pets as soon as she can).
We'll run the Cauldron until we exhaust our stash, and I will make an announcement when it is officially empty.
Remember, you can only claim ONE custom, so choose wisely.
Every recipe will require one Shiny Cauldron and a random number of different plants from the garden.
The Giant Cauldron is a fun custom giveaway tradition that we'd like to keep going every year, so please be sportsmanlike about it. It's a bonus for Halloween, not the focus; keep that in mind.

Ay vs. Ara Seasonal Shop!

When two worlds collide... there are awesome prizes!
The Ay vs. Ara Seasonal Shop is now open!
On that note, prices are based on average overall point totals and were designed so that everyone at every tier can take home something fun and valuable without anyone running away with a crazy game-changing advantage.
We have a lot of new items to take a look at, so let's begin with an Aywas staple--potions!
Above is the Ay Potion and Ara Potion. Each contains four exclusive pets native to its region!
That means when you use the Ara Potion, for example, your pet will randomly be changed into one of four specific Ara pets that you cannot buy in the shop! Here's one pet from each potion (you can find the others in the Aywapedia):
Hopefully these colorations look somewhat familiar to you, considering what they're based on! *wink*
Here we have the Worlds Collide Potion, which contains all of the buyable Ay vs. Ara Seasonal Shop pets. If you don't have enough for all of the pets or you love a good gamble, this bottle might be the one for you!
While these Phoenix Tree Roots clearly are not filled with liquid, they are a chance pet-related item. These are essentially a ONE USE Miniature Phoenix Tree; you can apply these to a TRE and will then hatch a random AD pet! No charges, no regening, but a fun item to take a risk on. :3
If potions aren't dangerous enough for you, then you might enjoy our new Adventure items!
The Ara Torch and Ay Torch are not only cool souvenirs from the smackdown and nice testaments to your team, but they also double as weapons with fire and burn resistance!
For all you dirty thieves out there, we have added the wildly popular suggestion of a Lock Pick to our equipment repertoire. This item has a 24-hour NO BREAK period and increases your chances of picking the lock on a treasure chest by a whopping 20%! We do not encourage a life of crime, so after this 24 hour period of plundering fun, the Lock Pick will have a 15% chance of breaking.
The lovely Leaf Whistle is the younger sibling of the Leaf Harmonica. It works in exactly the same way--that is, it increases your chances of encountering pets you don't already own in Adventure--but only for 24 hours. Like the Lock Pick, after the no-break time, it has a 15% chance of breaking.
Now, if the idea of roaming around in Adventure doesn't tickle your fancy, we have some items for more relaxing enjoyment.
Foodie lovers and drink aficionados might appreciate this spread:
From alcohol to hunger and energy food, these items will make great, inexpensive treats for your pets or nice collectables!
For our resident Fauna lovers, we have two new Ara- and Ay-themed pets for your pets! Meet the Orb Creature and Crystal Creature!
I am really excited to talk about this next item--the Key to the Stars.
This item is usable from your inventory and will unlock the Lunar Meteor site theme.
Guys, this is going to be a thing. DO YOU KNOW HOW EXCITING THIS IS?!
Yes, this means you can decide if you want your site background to be your current Adventure location, or an unlocked theme of your choice! (Account - Settings - Edit Account - Site Theme Settings.) We will definitely be utilizing the potential of this brand new feature as time goes on! I really hope you enjoy it. :3 And, best of all, at 5 points, the item is inexpensive enough for you to hopefully snag one for yourself and a few friends.
But wait! We still have some neat items to see!
If you consider yourself an Aywas pro or think you could use some pointers, then dress your HA in the clothes from the Aywas Schoolhouse Wardrobe!
Here's a preview of some of the items so you can get an idea of the style. All items are male and female compatible and there's a lot of unisex mix-and-match options!
Two items that are not included in the wardrobe are the following shirts:
The Ay and Ara T-shirts are 1 point each and are great mementos from the event that let you show your world pride! (Yes, they are HA-wearable.)
While we are offering a lot of affordable items, there are a few in higher tiers that I'd like to show you too.
The Cloner Talisman has 5 charges, and each will give you a Claw Cloner.
Similarly, the Glittering Talisman has 5 charges, and each will give you a Glittering Rock.
The rarest prize we are offering is the Magic Custom Trove, which was developed from a user suggestion.
This shiny item is our newest breeding add on. When you use this item in a hybrid BC breeding, your offspring will be made on alternate hybrid lines! The caveat with this, of course, is that you have to pick a pairing that will produce a hybrid that actually has alternate lines. We'll be working on adding more alt hybrid line sets. :3
And, last but not least, of course we have a plethora of pets to choose from!
BUT ERI, you say, wildly stamping your feet.
ARA WON, WHY ARE THERE SO MANY AY PETS?!?!? THE INJUSTICE!
Well now, I'm glad you brought that up!
Since Ara won, we will be having a mini explosion of (mostly) Ara pets into Adventure just after Halloween for everyone to enjoy. :3
Seasonal Shop Tips
There are a lot of ways to strategize when playing a game, and while I don't want to tell you how to play or enjoy Aywas, I thought I would give you a few quick tips that help me!
- if you have limited points, buy what you can afford that isn't easily obtainable through another method. (Remember, there are lots of ways to obtain pets!)
- invest in "exclusive" items--aka, things that you don't think will be readily re-released.
- buy what you'll use! If you're an adventure-a-holic, you most likely won't want to spend all your points on clothes and fauna.
- buy what you like. <3 If you hate gambling, potions probably aren't your thing. If you LOVE that Gemberry Pie but don't want to feed it to your pet, who cares? Pretty up your inventory.
- don't have any points because you couldn't participate? Scour the forums for some deals! Chances are, people will be looking to replenish their hoards or sell off extra items, and the good ol' pet and item obtaining methods aren't going anywhere.
