Candy Cane Packages

Apologies for my quietness this week--I attended a corporate event that somehow did not have WiFi.
Now I have an excuse to spam you with news posts all weekend. 8D
The first item of business today is the Seasonal Shop.
Our plan was to offer some larger packages of Candy Canes to make Snowflake trading more efficient, but we ran into a snag with the premium discount. We found an option that I think will work better for next year, so this time around you'll have to do the exchange the old-fashioned way. :C
The good news is, we'll extend the shop deadline to January 6th at 11:59 p.m.!

Coding Corner
We have a ton of awesome things planned for January and beyond!
Yasu and I are working on a mix of fixes and new surprises, so here's a little sneak peek at what you can look forward to:
- Tranqs and other uncoded items being assigned a use. This has been an ongoing priority for a long time, but you'll get to see a lot of the results soon! Tranqs are actually usable /in/ battle now, but we're still doing some tweaks.
- Related to the above, but also to user suggestions, we will be adding some awesome Adventure items. Two highlights are a Grappling Hook that'll help you jump ravines and a pretty sweet Vial of the Battle Soul that will swap pet stats.
- Restoring customization to pet descriptions/look-ups. We've already re-enabled a few codes, but we're not there yet!
- Turning vouchers into items & expanding custom makers. If you spied the Welcome Back page roughly a month ago, you probably saw a huge influx of new items that looked pretty snazzy. A decent portion of these items will be replacing vouchers (like for Neura breedings or metal Lunaris customs).
- The coveted Quick Stock feature should be released relatively soon.. if staff can stop finding ways to break it! XD
What else can we toast to this month?
For starters, a new Ara location, a new Raw pet, hybrid season mid-month (so we can recover a little from the holidays!), and more!
In the spirit of fun things and fresh starts, why not share your 2013 Aywas Resolutions with us?
I also wanted to take a quick moment to say thank you for sticking it out with me over the last year!
I couldn't ask for a better community to work for or a more creative, fun atmosphere to be in, and each of you contribute to this ambiance with your compassion, silliness, and talents. She and her husband just got the good news that she made it through her first trimester and so they are officially expecting their first baby. :3 As a moderator, she spends a lot of time and effort on the site, and I think it'd be nice if Aywas made her Christmas extra special!

My last wish is for there to be an Ovarian Cancer Awareness day sometime next year. I'm losing my younger cousin to a very rare form of it, and she has been a huge inspiration, not showing her fear of death, not showing her regret for leaving family behind. She has always been a huge supporter of cancer awareness, and it seems that Ovarian Cancer in particular is one of the forms that gets passed over or forgotten easily. Or even if a donation to my aunt/uncle/cousin could be made (they are trying to raise money for her funeral expenses... D: ) would be extremely amazing.
NOTE: I'd like it if you could contact me and we can pick a date and I'll start assigning workers to making this day memorable.

I have a friend in the hospital that currently in terminal condition. She never made an account on this site, but one of the times she was nearby, she saw the Fire Unicorn Lunaris and said she wanted to make one as a plushie for herself. Unfortunately, neither one of us are skilled with a needle and haven't been able to get anyone else to make it. As much as I would love the resulting plush doll to be sent directly to her room in the hospital, but they don't take patient mail... There is also a chance that this plush, if it gets to her after she dies, will be buried with her so it can keep her company after death, in a sense.

I have a real life wishy of puppy items, toys, etc for Imay (also here on 63). She recently got an adorable little Yellow Labrador puppy, and I'm sure she'd be absolutely tickled with puppy stuff spoilage~ :3 Anything would be awesome. Chew toys, treats, little bed. Doesn't have to be super spendy or a mass of items. I know she'd appreciate anything, even if it was just a ball or something~ ^^

I wish for Retta (#63) to get... a husky, puppy or adult dog (if good with cats). XD She's been wanting a puppy but huskies are extremely expensive (or the cheaper ones aren't good with cats) so... (But she got a husky, so instead she gets some supplies for her new dog!)

Cheshire (5252) Would REALLY love to be able to give her baby stuff. She is almost 8 months pregnant with her second try, her first was a still born and caused complications with this new pregnancy. She had internal bleeding and thought she was going to lose the baby. Its a little girl named Zoey who is due sometime in February. They JUST had to move homes (12/16/12/) and it will be very hard for them to get the things they need for their little one. Also just found out that Cheshire's arting laptop took a dump so there will be no more arting from her until they can afford a new one...:(

Oookay. Ookay. This one's going to be a little weird, but I think there's a purpose to this xD
So my horse Griffin, I'm pretty sure everyone on aywas that ever was knows about him.
He's my best friend, and honestly he really just makes life worth living right now. And yet sometimes I feel sorry for him.
During the summer, he has super bad sweet itch - an allergy to insect bites that a horse can get. It makes everything super itchy, their coat, and especially mane and tail.
Last summer he was so allergic and itchy, he scratched it all off. About half of his tail, and his entire mane. He was bald up until about a month ago, and it was still itchy and covered in sores. I felt sorry for him, but there wasn't anything I could do at that time.
I wish that my best friend Griffin could have a bit of fly spray this year.

Site wide: I've seen a number of posts from a few users throughout the year mentioning that they are struggling to make ends meet and having to cut out meals or having to skip them. If at all possible, some sort of donation drive that could be split up between a few users for food needs for the holiday would be my biggest wish. Nobody should have to go hungry over the holidays.
This wish will start something special for the start of 2013... you'll hear more about it later after I speak with the wisher!

You are not required to exchange your items since we cannot hunt all of these down, but if you would like to swap out your item, here are the details!
Exchanges:
Raw Blue Crystal can be exchanged for a Delicious Eggnog.
The Icecube Potion can be exchanged for either a Candy Cane Potion (Basic Stocking) or Snowflake Box (Pile of Gifts).
Holiday Forest Potion can be exchanged for the new Winter Wonderland Potion.
Holiday Aywa Gift can be swapped out for the current Holiday Aywa Gift 2012.
Please note that you are ONLY eligible for the exchange if you obtained these items from the stockings or Pile of Gifts this month.

Undead Wedding

A Slashbot Event, brought to you by your neighborhood superheros, Flash (#1)
The Undead Wedding is an event where you can put on your finest zombie attire and eat lots and lots of creepy foods and read creepy books, because the theme of the wedding is literature.
Look at that, don't you just look... GHOULISH?
There are plenty of delicious finger foods (made of real fingers, maybe...) available for your consumption, as well as the famous blood cake!
The wedding, being literature-themed, features some of the finest works that our authors have to offer. After all, what's a creepy zombie literature-themed wedding without books?
Don't forget to pick up your Undead Wedding Gift (which you should have gotten automatically if you have logged in the last 24 hours). Inside, you'll find two Undead Wedding HA items, one Undead Wedding food item, and one Undead Wedding book.
(If you got a second one due to the server hating me while I sent 'em out, don't panic, just keep it. It's not worth trying to find all the extras!)
There is the possibility of the printing press popping out some more books before the day is up, so you can either decide to use your item now or wait and see if more books come fresh off the press.
For those of you who contributed books to the event and had their books selected (though not all have their covers done), you'll be finding a shiny little statuette appearing in your inventory as a thank you for your fabulous authoring, as well as some copies of your book as... well, author advance copies to share with your friends~
...which, of course, allows you to make one of those above nom nom zombie dragons!
There may be another way to get a nom nom zombie dragon later today... but you might have to collect some books to do that...
