Spooky Reminders & a Skeleton Key!

As our spooky features draw to a close per our timeline, I wanted to give you a few reminders...
...and let you in on a little secret. *wink*

Reminders

You've had a little bonus time, so:

- Remember to pick up any items or pets from Rowan's Potion Brewing and Frankenstein's Lab. You will have until tomorrow evening to grab those.

- Help us clear out the Pumpkin Patch! Depositing new pumpkins has been disabled, but you are free to collect pumpkins until there are none left. (The time limit is still in effect, though.)

- The Halloween King will be closing down after 11:59 p.m. tonight.

- The Seasonal Shop and related items in the Trash Shop will be removed this evening.

- Halloween Payments are being worked on! Apologies for the delay. ;.; Please don't throw pumpkin guts at me.

We do have one last, now not-so-secret surprise left!

On Wednesday, November 12th, you will be able to collect a Skeleton Key from the Advent Calendar. The Skeleton Key has the ability to unlock one very special treasure chest, and is an account-bound, one-use item.

If you were here a few years ago, you might remember a lock-and-key feature we had that did not go as planned and was unable to be remedied. We've since revamped the feature and are giving everyone a fresh start this time around.

This is a special treasure chest!

What wonderful wares can you find inside? I'm so glad you asked!
We've stuffed the chests full of Halloween goodies--and even some shinier prizes like Custom Crystal Grab Bags and Design Tickets!

You can also find some playful pets hiding out in these treasure chests (don't ask me how they fit, it's magic). If you've been stalking the Aywapedia and wondering about the Candy Corn Harvest Tavi, Graveyard Dirt Shen, Dead Tree Codu, Haunted Well Koaf, and Pumpkin Spice Serafex, I'm now giving away their hiding spot: they can all be found in treasure chests. You can also obtain them through other methods of getting AD pets, though, if you're on a mission to get all site pets (Glittering Rocks, potions, eggs, etc.)!

As long as you have a Skeleton Key, you will be able to open a chest.
There are more than enough prizes for everyone because we are using a chance-based script, rather than putting in a fixed number of all items/pets, and your key can be used at any time, though I think sooner is funner!

I will be posting a reminder and link to the treasure chest hoard on Tuesday, I just wanted to give you a heads up now. n_n

If all goes well, I would like to try out a similar feature for Aymas this year, so please let me know what you think! <3

NaNoWriMo 2014

As the monthly essence for November hinted, National Novel Writing Month is upon us!
We will affectionately be referring to it by its well-known acronym, NaNoWriMo. :3

If you're unfamiliar wit the phenomenon, NaNoWriMo is a project that challenges you to write a 50,000-word novel within the 30 days of the month! I know many of you look forward to trying to make your fingers fall off every November, and we'd like to invite you to post your work here on Aywas for some appropriately-themed prizes. n_n

In a (hopefully welcome) change this year, we are setting the deadline for participating in NaNoWriMo on Aywas to December 10th at 11:59 p.m.

Here's all the links you'll need:

NaNoWriMo 2014
Post your stories here! This is publicly visible.
If you want your work removed from the site after the event is over and prizes have been distributed, we will certainly do that for you upon request.

Private NaNo Logs 2014 - Coming Soon!
If you don't want your work visible to the public, you will be able to utilize the private forum instead.
Only you and staff will be able to see your threads, and we will happily remove them from the site upon request after the month is over and prizes have been handed out.
I will let you know when the private section is available. You may write offline in the meantime and post your work once the area is up and running.

Whether you use the public space or private area, you must follow the NaNo instructions!

We have also created a new FAQ thread for any questions that you run into.

And, of course, there are prizes!
(They stack, so the more you write, the more goodies you accumulate.)

1,000 - participation item.
5,000 - pet item.
10,000 - HA set.
25,000 - Defense items.
50,000 - Forum title, exclusive fauna and an exclusive site theme/background.

Good luck to all of our aspiring novelists, hobby writers, wordsmiths, and everyone in between!

Premium Item - Canvas Tote

You can now collect the premium monthly item for November!

The Canvas Tote will allow you to bypass the Ay police poaching fee; one use, regenerates once a week. The item will be used automatically from your inventory when you are caught poaching. When it is used, you'll get a notification that says: As you attempt to capture the pet, you notice the Ay Police patrolling by. You quickly stuff the pet into your Canvas Tote. The notification won't be in adventure, it'll be with your regular notices.

If your premium time expired between November 1st and today, please contact Kyu (#1010) to claim your Canvas Tote copy!
