Egg Field Notice

Events

Hey guys,

We love to see that everyone is enjoying the egg field but we want to have a quick word with you all about the messages being put in.

While we're respectful of everyone's different religions, faiths, and belief systems, we must ask that you keep them out of the egg field. Not everyone will share the same beliefs as you, and there are many who have had traumatic experiences within religious groups, so while your messages may be meant in a light-hearted or good intended way, the people those messages can get to may not read them in that way.

We will not be taking actions against people who have already put in religious messages, unless the messages themselves cross a line or rule that we do not allow, but we do request that you do not put more in.

Thank you for listening, and happy egg hunting to all!

It's been requested a few times that I add this to the news post:

From the Terms of Service:
"The following topics are considered to be mature [M]: politics, religion, sex, sexual innuendo or jokes, artistic nudity, sexuality, self harm or other such behavior or thoughts and swearing."

These subjects should be limited to forum threads that are indicated as M/mature in the title, and as such are not appropriate to be shared in the egg field as no such indication can be made prior to the egg being selected.

I hope that helps to further clarify matters =)

I’d like to vote for new names not Aymas and such. Something that doesn’t sound like the original holiday. I like the thought of Ayquenox and Aranox:)

FireWalker (#79546) it's listed in the community tab. I'm on my phone or I'd post the link.

I agree with Ell... If we're doing new names for the holidays, completely separating them would be nice. Ayster is still Easter. Aylentines is still Valentines. Aymas is still Christmas. Putting "Ay" at the front just makes it cutesy - but does not separate it from the holiday.

I like Ofaldetch with the whole lore associated with the day making sense.

I also like Ayquenox and Aranox - which also works for there being two equinoxes every year. And the names are based on the natural events that often have holidays associated in many religions. Have Ayquenox be spring, and Aranox be fall. Could just have Aranox be a special day within Ofaldetch. Or Aranox could be the first day of Ofaldetch. (Like Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent.)

For Aymas, you could have Aymas as the actual Christmas day event because it's so established already and takes place on the existing holiday - it'd be impossible to not separate the two. But the rest of the winter stuff could have another official name.

FireWalker (#79546) You don't need to find eggs to deposit. Along the top of the egg field you'll see a link to "deposit an egg". Then you just put in an item and some BP (and a friendly message if you want). That will deposit your egg so you can pick one up.
You do run the risk of picking up your own egg, so some people like to deposit certain colors and avoid picking them up. But it's no big deal if you do really.

I'd like to put in a suggestion if I could x3 Since the pagan side of Easter's pretty much about sex and fertility, why not get rid of the eggs in general? After all, if you think about it, they can be sexual innuendo's, too, which I see is in the list of rated [M] topics. Everyone associates eggs with Easter nowadays anyway. Why not just celebrate spring, if the religious stuff gets under people's skin? I think it'd be cool, instead of eggs, for it to be flower buds. You plant a flower bud into this field and when someone opens it, not only do you get a little gift, but you get a picture of a certain flower, too. Or at least a picture of one. It'd make it interesting and definitely different.

'Course it's just a suggestion. I do consider myself a Jesus Freak as well, so I am guilty of putting some of those messages in eggs. But do know it wasn't to make you feel bad. It was out of love. Folks who put that stuff down are just concerned about you and where you're going. In all honesty we don't mean to make it condescending or rude sounding. Sometimes it just sounds like that, especially when you're reading text. You can't distinguish a voice tone through text.

I will respect the moderator's wishes, however. Thanks for reading, and may everyone enjoy the festivities.

Eve (#2775) thanks for adding the note about the ToS' [M] definition. Tbh I had forgotten that religion was included in that, so this post makes a lot more sense now.

I also realized I was conflating some users' comments (which specifically referenced Christianity) with the original post (which did not), so my apologies for reacting so strongly.

Yeah, perhaps my year long obsessions with the Halloween events and the creepy/scary messages about haunted eggs are not always so appropriate for the Easter Egg Field... ehehehe

[I voluntarily created some sort of ritualistic cult based upon the 2016-2018 Special Aymas Feesh. The eggs I've created over the years have also been associated with this fictional cult in some way. In my understanding, a fictional cult is not that different to a religion, so maybe I'll keep the ritualistic elements from the Feesh cult out of those eggs.

Also, I support the ideas by above prayers for having new names for holiday events. These could be new names unique to Ayway because Aywas is a separate (virtual) world in which the owners of the site can introduce their own unique events (as they often already have been). I guess that opens up the world for new and unique Lore around some NPCs and the Aywan events, although, Aywas has already done a good job of creating their own variants of some of these holiday events and festivities. I love Halloween on Aywas and I'd still love the event even if the name was changed.]

I am chiming in with the idea that while Aymas and Aylentine's are the current favorites, to me it would be better to completely separate the real world and aywas world events completely.

If it were separated as much as possible, then it would be easier to think of it as its own unique celebration and not mix it up with real world stuff (it would still happen, but probably not as much).

Aymas still evokes Christmas to me, and Aylentine's still evokes Valentine's to me.

Since the winter Solstice is close to Christmas, use that as a basis of the name for the holiday, while the Spring Equinox could be used as a basis for the name of any Easter like holiday.

That not only removes it from any religion (whether Pagan or Christian), but also puts the holidays on naturally occuring events. There are usually festivals or holidays surrounding those events, but the events themselves are natural.

I would also like to say that everytime I see Ayster I read Oyster...

As for the easter field I do have one great request to the site coder - can we please have the pets sorted alphabetically / by ID number, either ascending or descending? Now it seems like there's no system at all to pet list and like they're just put in random order. PLEASE PLEASE can you do it? ;A; *Yasu [sick] (#3410)
