Egg Field Notice

Events

Hey guys,

We love to see that everyone is enjoying the egg field but we want to have a quick word with you all about the messages being put in.

While we're respectful of everyone's different religions, faiths, and belief systems, we must ask that you keep them out of the egg field. Not everyone will share the same beliefs as you, and there are many who have had traumatic experiences within religious groups, so while your messages may be meant in a light-hearted or good intended way, the people those messages can get to may not read them in that way.

We will not be taking actions against people who have already put in religious messages, unless the messages themselves cross a line or rule that we do not allow, but we do request that you do not put more in.

Thank you for listening, and happy egg hunting to all!

----------------------

It's been requested a few times that I add this to the news post:

From the Terms of Service:
"The following topics are considered to be mature [M]: politics, religion, sex, sexual innuendo or jokes, artistic nudity, sexuality, self harm or other such behavior or thoughts and swearing."

These subjects should be limited to forum threads that are indicated as M/mature in the title, and as such are not appropriate to be shared in the egg field as no such indication can be made prior to the egg being selected.

I hope that helps to further clarify matters =)

I mean, Easter is a holiday celebrating Jesus being resurrected. Like, you can't separate it from that context... the holiday wouldn't exist otherwise. Like how Christmas is celebrating his birth, and there will always be that connotation. If you don't like it, just ignore the holiday or do things your own way. You can control your actions, not others' actions. IMO quoting a religious passage shouldn't be punishable. Just like how putting a Richard Dawkins quote in shouldn't be punishable. Just nod and smile and move on with your life. Freedom of expression and all that good stuff.

I'm saying this as someone who was raised religious but is no longer. People are way too sensitive about religious stuff. You believe what you want, so let people believe what they want. If it makes them happy to express that in a way that isn't degrading anyone else, what's the big deal?

Easter is not just about Jesus. It is also a pagan holiday, you people seem to forget that. Just don't be putting freaking verses from the Bible in the eggs isn't that hard? Easter is part of the culture and can be separated from religious figures.

I guess what bothers me about this post is that it's straight up censorship against a specific religion.

I'm not sure what the legal precedents are for websites being able to discriminate, but it seems awfully hypocritical for a website that is ostensibly all-inclusive and progressive.

Like, if someone was putting BLM banners in the egg field and yall said "quit that, it's offending some people" there would be an uproar about how racist and discriminatory it is. Yet because it's against a religion, it's ok???

Anything that requires an m in the title on the forums isnt allowed in eggs. So you're BLM comparison doesn't work because it would require an m in the forums.

BLM is political so yes, it falls under the same category.
