Commission Panel Violations

Site Update

collectable_divorcepapers.png

Good Evening, I request that everyone who uses the commission panel please read this in full.
It has recently been brought to my attention that we have commissions appearing on the panel for $1 with descriptions of saying to add more to the tip or they are pay what you want with a minimum of $1.

The cost of the design must be posted, and must not be included within the tip. A tip is a gratitude, not part of the payment.

This is highly unacceptable. I understand that the commission panel fees may upset some of you, but this is the balance for being allowed to sell designs for USD. This is a blatant attempt at avoiding the fees and it will not be tolerated. If this trend does not stop immediately we will have to remove the ability to send tips.

This is on you, the artists and users of the commission panel. I do not want to remove the tip function, I am perhaps the strongest advocate of keeping it, do not ruin this for everyone else.
If you wish to do pay what you want, or add different amounts for certain additions, do it in your thread.

Just wanted to make sure mine was fine. I charge $1 per offspring, but never aimed to avoid fees.

PUNKawaii (#68611) No one was saying tips are required, it was people skirting fees because tips aren't subject to fees.

Ooohh, I see! I read the whole thing, but I guess my mind just skipped over that word, haha.

I was doing a PWYW with minimum of $1, but it was never meant to skirt fees (I actually didn't even realize until after I'd gotten 2 or 3 comms that the tip didn't get fees). I only EVER expected $1. To avoid being seen as someone trying to skirt fees, I removed my ad, and will not be adding any others. Sorry if I was one you saw as skirting fees, that was never my intention. v_v

The PWYW model of pricing is something that a few artists like to use. I do see how it can be an issue, but it's really a pity that we don't have any way to work around with a 'starting point' and then final pricing that you can then calculate the fee from.
I mean. Just a thought I guess.
It could be done via thread and then an ad set up too. But it's a bit roundabout in some ways.

I do agree that any listing that says you should add more to the tip shouldn't be allowed though. That's just... not cool. Trying to skirt around the fees is not a good thing to do.

You guys will know that something similar, at a much larger scale obviously, happened on Ebay with shipping costs. Since shipping costs are not subject to Ebay fees, merchants started charging huge shipping costs and setting their actual prices really low. Obviously, Ebay got really pissed and started banning merchants for this.

I believe here in Aywas is different, more based on wanting to encourage sales than cheating. But to be able to use the "pay what you want" formula without creating a problem to the tip system, I believe artists will have to give up on tips for these operations and very clearly state in their threads and ads that payments should go as real price. Humble opinion. I don't see how it would work otherwise :(

It's honestly really easy to do pay what you want, you just have to have the user tell you how much they will be paying so that you can make them a custom listing.

What AremRae said. I've done PWYW a few times and the artist put up the listing with the price that I said I wanted to pay when they get the samples done for me.
