Zzzzzzap!

Site Update

Hey all!

Just a very quick update - we've noticed that people are missing the text on Ambriel's Alterations where it shows your pet and states that the effects are irreversible.

We understand this is easy to do, and as such we have added a confirmation screen to both the initial zap, and subsequent Special Orb zaps.

Please be aware that, as before, accidental zaps on the wrong pet are considered user error due to the warning - and now warnings - and will not be undone by staff in the event of zapping an unintended pet.

We hope this helps you navigate the game better!

It would do users well to make a personal rule to stay away from such features when excessively tired or distracted so that mistakes are better avoided. I always at least refresh pages and double-check if the pet is appropriate before visiting Ambriel's Alterations, Glittering Slab or using Ray Guns and Random X Potions etc. I've even taken extra precautions and used the Lockbox on the pets that are very, very special to me so I don't lose them in this way.

To those who have lost precious pets to errors, I hope this never happens again. It hurts a lot, it is very sad and I feel sorrow for your loss. Virtual or not, losing a pet is a real tragedy in my books.

Also, don't leave a tab open on Ambriel's Alterations or the Glittering Slab. These pages may occasionally refresh for whatever reason especially on mobile devices - and well... you know what that means. Better safe than sorry.

If refreshing on the page redoes the action as ✰ηǝǝरส✰ has mentioned, then there should probably be a redirect between the action and the result like buying from shops used to have. Either that or whatever implementation those use now (web terminology is failing me).

The Glittering Slab page already has a confirmation button though, 2 in fact. o.O How would refreshing zap your pet?

refreshing usually redoes the last action the page did.

I know locking a pet also prevents some features like the slab from working. I never took a locked pet to get zapped, but I would -think- they were protected from that as well.

with some browsers, you do have to reconfirm an action taken that counts as a page submission, something that would interact with server-side information that the host's computer sends (i.e. sending the confirmation to zap a pet). theoretically, if this were to happen, the user would have to confirm that they're rezapping with the browser, but i haven't tested this. it's a curiosity to think about, though!

with that said, it's really nice to have these extra prompts. i've never had a problem with ambriel but i could see how some people might misclick. now they have a greater barrier.

oh, should mention my comment refers to page refreshing, such as when leaving a window open and letting it auto-refresh. just clarifying, d'oy.

I went to check out Ambriel's Alterations with a locked pet as my active and it won't even take you to the first page, there's just a message that says you can't do this with a locked pet. So that's all good.

The best way to counteract accidental zapping is to lock your favourite pets if you can!
