Site Update

Happy New Years everyone! I know that you were waiting for the monthly but unfortunately it will be delayed :( Our Shops are having trouble and for some reason adding an item has a chance to make a totally unrelated item say it costs 0 bp/gp, however it still charges you the proper amount. This item then becomes completely uneditable, and due to the holiday we haven't had proper time to fix this.
Of course this is also effecting the HA Contest, as many may have seen the items are already created but until we get the go ahead we don't want to risk poking the shop.

I know, many of you are probably asking why don't I just swap around the release days? Well I was originally going to do that, but that would make the Jeweled Custom Makers have 1 less day for their submission and I won't do that to those trying to finish last minute submissions.

I do however have the newest Rock Custom Crystal for you!

We also have a fun new update about the Genetics Kit and Hybrid Genetics Kit! Now when you use a Genetics Kit you may request which lines you use as long as the lines do not have a dedicated custom maker, so this includes many common alts and all old lines. However, this is up to Artist's Discretion. The artist is not required to use your request and may proceed with the normal lines if they desire.

We also would like to take this chance to remind everyone that artist breedings are not commissions! We have received an influx of very detailed prompts on breedings, with and without addons which allow prompts, that include requests such as color placements and edit uses. Artists do not have to follow these, and we encourage them to only do what they are comfortable with in these situations! So please be aware of this rule, and that artist's can ignore these if they desire and it will not be counted as a breeding mistake.

Seems everyone needs to be reminded that paying artists for predicts can be a thing.

Thanks, 🎁❄Kaiyo❄⛄ (#489) !

I sure hope I'm never too detailed - I do like giving my artists freedom! *winks* Kismet probably shows the way I'm SO VERY detailed NOT!! Her artist did a GREAT job on Kismet, my Xaoc.

Ahh sometimes I am too detailed, but always with the "but I understand if I'm asking too much and this isn't in the final art!" line. I will edit my BC description tomorrow though, just in case!

O wow I was really bad in my BC notes, just fixed it now. I get rambley when I'm tired, so that's a bad time to fill that out. :P

does this apply to unstable genetics kits (like could you say you would want x alt snoodle if you get a snoodle or the alt faux if you get a faux or alt vion, etc, etc... wait minus the faux.. i know the snoodle has it's own custom maker but since they also have the option to be submitted via the snoodle box.. i'm not sure it would count.. at vion and lunaris and their linearts go by the same custom maker....) ? oh, and it's apply to genus in a bottle too, yeah?

Alsom I'm just curious and somewhat confused by this.. but... why is it optional for the alt lines to be used if you request them (this is including the fact you can't request alt lines that have their own custom maker and stuff like alt hybrids ,etc)... that makes it seem.. more complicated than it should be.. i mean.. i totally understand artist's notes being optional... but if the genetics kits allow for the request to use alt lines, which is that also optional... this sounds very annoying for someone who might really want certain lines used.. but because the aritst just doesn't feel like it, they disregard the client's request and stick the generic lines... and maybe the client paid high breeding fees and breeding coins are kinda expensive.... honestly, it's not that i feel artist's should not have freedom.. but it would kinda be a dick move to just ignore a request that was official sorta encouraged as being okay to do... so i'm not sure why it being optional is allowed... seems weird to me. I personally almost would never want to request alt line art because if on the off chance i got an artist who would ignore the request.. i'd be worried that i did something to piss them off.. get super anxious about it... and it would be even worse if it was with an artist ticket... as it would be like 'i could ask them why but do i want to??'.. it just seems a lot less messy to just take away the optionalness of this. or to just get rid of allowing the request and go back to requiring breeding pets with the lineart you want.... i'm probably over thinking this though... maybe.. i'm kinda paranoid by nature. as well as for learned reasons, unfortunately....

It's not people requesting certain lines used when they have the option enabled, it's the ones who do a detailed layout of exactly how they want a thing colored. Or exactly which edits they want used from the parents. Little things like, "Please don't use X color because I really don't like it." or "Please don't use X edit with X edit." are typically fine so long as you don't go overboard with the requests. Site breedings are meant to be somewhat unpredictable. If you have your heart set on exacts that's what the freelance predict artists do. Or you can make the predict yourself.
