Pull A Chair Up To My Table

Site Update

One of the overwhelming pieces of feedback we've had since yesterday is that people are concerned about what they can charge for different types of artwork, services and items.

To aid in clearing up that confusion a table has been added to the commissions panel knowledgebase article, which gives you the various methods of payment and if you can use it.

If there's anything you think should be added let us know, we did our best to be thorough but we may have missed a subject or two!

Regarding "Copyrighted Fanart (eg Kingdom Hearts) " in the table:
Some content creators have official policies that allow paying for fanart. For example:

Q: Can I sell commissions?

A: Yes, under certain specific conditions. First of all, the "commissions" we refer to here are only unique, two-dimensional images. If you want to sell, on a commission basis, your two-dimensional art with Andrew's intellectual property in it, that's fine, as long as a) neither you nor your commissioner or any third party have any plans to reproduce, resell or make a profit off of the commissioned image and b) you do not promote yourself as a Homestuck artist. This means you would be creating single, unique images for a single commissioner who would not be using that image for any monetary or commercial reason. If you're all right with those conditions, go for it!

Would an exception for these be made?

i would use green check marks and red xs for the yes/no instead of grey boxes and xs all over everything else.. personally a X to me means no lol - its more understandable now then before thats for sure, thank you.

Regarding the item "Coding (for pet or user profiles)", I think it could be more specific because when commissioning someone to code a profile it usually includes the graphics for said profile, and from what I understand, if those graphics contain aywas images, then it could not be direct $.
Maybe either split into "Coding (with aywas images)" and "Coding (without aywas images)" or specify that this item is for the coding alone, not including any graphics (as those are specified bellow).

Just a suggestion to avoid any further problems at all cost x3

regarding coding/graphics, that seems like a slippery slope as how do you know the graphics being used, if not aywas, are not being used for unlawful profit? Just giving credit doesn't add up to many when it comes to profiting (USD or otherwise). rom their work, be it photography, art, or photomanipulation. The money might be for the actual coding. But still... if it is using graphics/stuff that isn't their own, idk.. i think ti is sketchy to ask usd for it...

also the selling of psd uses (if you have full rights or if it is your work) isn't mentioned in the table thingy... I think?
