I hear the sound of... money?

We're happy to tell you that the predict price ceilings have been updated!

As of this news post, the price ceilings are as follow:

GP Price Ceilings

15 GP per baby = Breeding Coin, Holiday Breeding Coin, Evil Breeding Coin
8 GP per baby = Painted Lesser Breeding Coin
6 GP per baby = Painted Metal Breeding Coin
5 GP per baby = Lesser Breeding Coin, Half a Lesser Breeding Coin
3 GP per baby = Metal Breeding Coin
2 GP per mutant or 4 GP per normal baby = Radioactive Breeding Coin
150,000 BP per baby or 6 babies for 1 GP = Derp Breeding Coin

USD Price Ceilings

- A single MBC prediction cannot be redeemed for more than $2.00 USD
- A single LBC or PMBC prediction cannot be redeemed for more than $3.00 USD
- A single PLBC prediction cannot be redeemed for more than $4.00 USD
- A single 30% edited BC/HBC/etc prediction cannot be redeemed for more than $10.00 USD
- A single 50% edited BC/HBC/etc prediction cannot be redeemed for more than $15.00 USD
- A single 75% edited BC/HBC/etc prediction cannot be redeemed for more than $20.00 USD

Please be aware that the HBC GP price ceiling has decreased to properly match the other BC-type coins. If you have active commissions that were commissioned prior to this news post under the old price for HBC predictions, that is fine. But going forward please make sure you do not accept commissions for more than the new price ceiling.

A small note: Please be aware that if a breeding is in the queue for more than one month and does not have a predict baby attached it will be assigned. Be sure to check the 'will have predicts box' if you plan to submit one!

Yeah, if it's true its a huge bummer, because before this I was under the impression that PMBC predicts were fine for MDT because it's a site function. I'll have to get clarification before I request for another in the future. At least my pre-mixed PLBC predict is safe.

wait... people can't take the panel fee into account with their commissions feature prices? since paying a commissions feature fee is something one HAS to do, shouldn't people be allowed to charge an amount that takes into account the commissions panel fee. In they end they wouldn't net anymore than the ceiling.. so it makes sense they should be able to. Plus in addition to that, paypal fees happen so no matter what you get some taken away...at least one of the fees should be taken into account , no?? The change in the amount is so minimal for at least pmbc/mbc/lbc/etc predicts, I'm not sure the panel fee would just wipe out the added on "bonus"...

though on a potentially more important note (idk. depends what one would think I mean by "important"), regarding what 222 said, I'm not sure anyone in the comments was really blaming the artists. it seemed more focused on how the ceilings still weren't high enough. or did I miss some comments? I probably did, but still...

also, expecting to pay one's bills with money one makes as one of many pet site artists seems a little far-fetched, no??? I would think of it more as a hobby job, that comes with some cash bonuses on the side.

And honestly, artists here have something HUGE going for them here. And that is job security ... sorta (as people can't get predicts or designs done by off-site artists). And USD is actually an option now (via the commissions panel). So there are more oppurtunities to make money. even when it was just paintbrushes to get usd, it was saying something compared to a lot of sites.

And honestly, if outside artists were allowed to take on commissions (and say idk, the commissioner would be expected to pay the site the "royalty" fee or what the commissions fee is for, themselves out of pocket or whatever), that would probably in essence devalue site artist's work. And it would have nothing to do with the art not being worth more. quality-wise and time consumption-wise.. but let's be real.. there are a LOT of artists on this planet. Many are good. or at least good enough for editing a base/colouring a psd (as a lot of the work is kinda already done). maybe pbc work would not be as easy. and gold level editing or meshing a lower edited based so the oen's style and the bases style goes together well, might be hard, but yeah, there would be a huge pool of artists to do this kind fo stuff outside the side of it was allowed... and like that very often quoted supply and demand theory.... the demand would still be the same, but the potential supply pool (or USD payments at least) would maybe skyrocket if not at least it would increase quite a bit... That would potentially lead to some site artists whom were getting usd commissions to end up either having to give up doing commissions and hope for breeding team work (on a team that pays usd) or switch to GP...

The site is also 13+ so idk if it is fair to expect 13 - 16 year olds to pay usd for stuff on a site that is probably marketed as free to play. many things are "free to play" but in reality aren't... this site is a real huge case of needing to drop real life currency to succeed in it. And parents shouldn't be expected to cave to this. so idk.. the site might as well be 16+ or require parental conset for 13-15 year olds or something... idk...

Also regarding artist payment. There are too many artists getting underpaid in this world for it to be a viable excuse that artists aren't paid enough. I don't think it is a fantastic thing this is the case. It really sucks. But the starving artist stereotype is unfortunately fairly accurate for many artists whom don't do anything beyond commission or work or work such as this. Sure, there are examples that show otherwise. But those aren't as frequent as the Internet might make you believe it is. I used to be an art major in college (long story) so i have friends who majored in art. And I had some friends outside of my college who majored in art. via high school or through other aspects of my life. getting a job in the art field is a struggle. at least in the real world.so considering this fact, doing internet art work is sorta taking the easy way out of the struggle. and if that doesn't pay the bills, I don't the internet or those who frequent the Internet should be blamed for abusing artists. I mean. Tell all the poor SOBs with art degrees stuck at really bad jobs like .. designing web pages for a living and not even really drawing even though they have a fine arts degree in drawing and animation or whatever.

Life isn't always fair. So, while I do agree with some of what 222 said. I think this is a two way street. there is good and bad. there are pros and cons.

some users take GP no matter because of not being a US citizen and the taxes would be to much to make it worth it. so idk...

I just see this artist versus non-artist back and forth and I think this not want the site would want. The point of having artists and non-artist is for there to indeed be a good balance and for there to be a you scratch my back I scratch yours thing... but it seems like both sides have a sligthtly unrealistic view point ... or maybe biased would be the word.. idk...

but I can say it was more than my injury that let me to give up art as a career. the competition in the field was too much. And I am gonna be honest and say I was not the cream of the crop. I was good enough. I got complimented. But I wasn't the person who'd get their stuff continuously ogled at (well, by the other art students I mean.. art students hung out with other art students a lot of time... so non-art students were often of "untrained eye" and would ogle anyone who got into a college art program's work lol.). SO IDK, even when I was at my best, I didn't really value my art that much. But I do have a huge self esteem problem. so that might be part of it.

Though to be honest.. there is quality differences depending on the arts, here, there, everywhere... and while i hate to admit that, and I personally love most things and am easy to please... some people aren't.. and for two people to pay the same amount of GP/USD and say they were to submit the same pair w/ same palettee and prompt and get two different artists, there is a good chance one pet would be more desirable than the other.

So I don't think it is terrible to be a predicts preferred type of person. Though yeah, I'd kinda thing predicts would be worth more than one done by a site artist. so yeah, it does make sense for many artists to do premades and whatnot for more profit in the long run. But if predicts had a higher ceiling than what the artists were paid or even if it was the same, it might dig into this qausi job security and there would be less work for artists.. and that would be even less work for some artists who don't get as much side work (though that may be on purpose)...

so yeah.. it is indeed a delicate balance.. and in the end..it is impossible to make everyone happy and have a stable site... so I think choices need to be made carefully (by the site) as the happiness of either the artists or the non-artist population (with whom many have poured money into the site) coudl make or break it in the end..

and this us versus them BS (which goes for many us versus them BS I've seen here) has got to stop. i mean really. it has helped nothing.

And on that last note, I don't blame artists leaving to make more money either. Though I think leaving for such reasons could be done more responsibly and less explosively. But idk...

it is kinda the really high quality artists that led to a lot of this as high expectations didn't come from nothin'. It is kind of the unfortunate legacy of having very skilled artists here (present and past. even future. doesn't matter.)

Though I don't think artists whom aren't the top 1% so to speak should be disheartened. One can pretty much never stop improving or at least expanding their horizons when it comes to heart. So if one sticks the grind religiously enough, there is no reason they could never be in the quote and quote 1% of aywas artists one day. This site has so many oppurtunities for artists of different levels... I don't think the diversity to skill level is something bad either... for growing artsists, this site is a good place do slowly increase ones skill level in manageable ways..

so yeah like I said. good and bad. pros and cons. yadda yadda. Sometimes there are frictions on this site that just exhaust me by looking at it. and this is one of them. So I thought I'd put a more (at least somewhat) ambivalent-ish/neutral opinion.

I suddenly feel very bad for not showing more of my "happy" side. or idk what to call it. I never felt it needed to be shown because there is enough happy. But idk about that now... it seems both sides are kinda at the places they "need" to be. And not at the places they don't. for the most part, at least.
