Regarding Deleting Threads

Site Update

Staff have recently been inundated with requests for thread deletions, most often when an account is being sold/moved into. This is creating an unsustainable workload that is impacting other areas of the site.

Due to this we are now formally restricting thread removals to one year old or less from the time of the last post. For example, from today, threads last posted in before July 14th 2014 will no longer be removed from accounts.

Users posting in threads they want deleted to bring them within the time limit will receive a formal warning against their account.

This makes sense :)

and here i thought removing support from the account teleporter would have reduced the amount of moving.

We're allowed to request thread deletion now? I was always told that staff will not do that for any reason, they'll only lock or move them to a private staff-only place if the thread is causing issues. - Azi

Azi & Darsol (#6879) - They aren't deleted, you're right, just moved out of sight. It was easier and shorter to refer to it as "deletion" in this case =)

I Don't understand why there isn't a group put together for deletion of posts? why not just put a specific group of mods elected for this purpose only??

Drawing-Hiatus (#8701) - It was originally handled by a few mods who were doing it a courtesy/side project when they had the time, despite it actually not being something that staff had ever previously offered. Now, unfortunately, when any one person is requesting 50+ threads at a time, and multiple people are doing this, it is completely unsustainable for anyone to handle - especially as it isn't an officially offered function, or one that we feel is necessary for a dedicated team.

Eveglori (#2775) Suggestion

What if you guys were to select a few new mods (so a few mods who deleteing/moving threads was there ONLY job)

Then create a set of rues where you can only submit like....lets say 5-10 forums you wish to be deleted once every 3 months and the requests are submitted in a Subforum of the Help forum called "Forum Deletion" and every 3 months you guys put a forum in for everyone to submit their 10 forums for deletion.

I hope i explained that in a understandable way.

So just like the event updates, every 3 months there is a forum deletion update for everyone to put their one post in of 10 forums they want deleted. (and of course it should be posted in a manner that is easy to work with)

What do you think about that? I honestly think that if you guys had a small team (maybe 5-8 people) who this is there ONLY job, this would be an easy task.

so, the problem is too many people asking for the secret features meant as loopholes.

I'm still not sure what the appeal of moving accounts is. With the account teleporter gone, its even more lost to your current account.

In this case, I think that Aywas should follow suit in what Flight Rising does. They should allow players to be in charge of the own threads they create and give them the power to "delete" them. If that can be done in a way that mods/admin could still see the "deleted" thread even after it's gone, if it were to ever come into question, it would be even better. ^^
