I submitted a story earlier and had it rejected for left alignment; from my end it LOOKED left aligned, but I had copied and pasted it in and and the actual left aligned button didn't appear pressed when i highlighted that text until i actually pressed it myself. It didn't appear to change anything, but I think that might have been the problem? Just an fyi I guess for everyone else to actual make sure you set it manually even if it appears set

Just to be clear, when it says repurposing of existing Aywas-related stories is acceptable... does that mean Scav written work would be allowed? Because that would be absolutely wonderful! I'd love to share some of my Scav writing with all of Aywas! :D

I uh... :T I have to massively disagree that "unnecessary" speaking verbs are a problem when used reasonably. If the author IS using them as a crutch, as the linked article notes, yes, that becomes a problem. But to say that EVER using ANYTHING other than "said" or "asked" is always a problem is like reading purple prose and drawing the conclusion that ALL descriptive text in any amount or context is problematic.

What about when something is shouted or screamed? Certainly neither "said" nor "asked" conveys that properly; are we to always leave it to the exclamation mark alone? If that were the case, though, why would we ever need to use "asked" when the question mark can signify that?

I disagree that it's always telling rather than showing; sometimes, it's the equivalent of showing for your ears. "Growled" doesn't necessarily mean anger; it means "the voice took on a distinct quality rougher and/or raspier than the speaker's normal voice", which could be used for anger, frustration, or even flirtation.

When one "coos" or "purrs" words, you can't show that with visual descriptors; those words denote the soft voice in which words are spoken.

When one "sings" words, the same issue arises.

Sure, you could say "she said softly" or "she said in a sing-song tone", but why on earth would anyone waste extra words when we're already on such a tight word limit? It's counterproductive. Yes, if you have to say "he joked" rather than the audience just understanding it's a joke, there's probably something wrong. But I don't feel like that means that no more descriptive words are ever acceptable. :/

...on another note, is there ANY way to actually see your submission in its "final" (as it will appear) format - or, even better, to edit/reedit it based on errors seen?

Also, to piggy-back on #30385's question - Is there any way to see our submissions, period? I like how we can look at them when we submit Customs, so I think it'd be neat to see that in the Library, as well.

There's a "preview" button on the submission thingy. It's a little eye. It shows it formatted in a little pop out window.
