Tigerbird Finx

Many of you have heard talk of the other side of Ay. One of the pets that walks those unknown lands is the Finx. We might not be ready to release the other side of Ay yet, but we're going to be releasing the PSDs to these pets one by one to accept colorations for when the other side of the world goes live.

The Finx is a species whose colors should blend the designs of a mammal and a bird. That one up there isn't a good example because that was just Xero experimenting on melos and reves (it is purdy though), but good examples would be:

- Leopard Hawk

- Tiger Osprey

- Panda Eagle

And so forth.

The Tigerbird is indeed the first of the Finx species and will be the only Finx coloration released before the other side of Ay becomes accessible. You can thank Xero for that. Due to the rarity of these creatures, he'll be handing out ten of them of random genders. If you would like to take your chances getting one, post your favorite thing about the Finx species. Winners will be randomly selected from the entries (no double entries, one news comment per person, please).

You can submit Finx colorations and download the PSD here.

I adore the whole design itself :3 The concept of having an Aywa which is a hybrid of two animals which in reality are predator and prey is an incredibly sweet idea @.@

I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with, I'll be having a few shots at colours myself 8D

Asdfghjkl WINGS. they are SO FLUFFY. OmygoshIlovefluffywings. I am SPEECHLESS. And the tail and the ears and the OMGNEEDPLZ. ...Ahem now that that's out of my system... (Sorry Sarah, you kind of took the brunt of that on AIM xDD) I have to say... my very favourite thing about the Finx is a toss up between the expression- so smug! It's just like how my friend's cat Sterling would look at me- and the name. I really, really love the name Finx- it just seems really put together, and it totally fiths the species. Very short and to the point, but also sort of melodic- maybe a cross between Finch and Felix... In any case I lovelovelove it <333 This species is going to be my new favourite, I can tell. thank you so much for the amazing new pet :DDDD

My favorite part is the way the eyes and mouth reflect a cat's innate pride, echoed by the posture. Way too adorable, I'm going to be opening my cave up for more of those little buggers!

The name comes from "Sphinx" XD They're fabled to be lions with wings with human heads!

The whole design is awesome! I love the way the colors flow down its wings and the way the body looks sleek and shiny. The bright playful expression and stripes compliment each other very well. Its amazing. askjdlkjfljk!

My favourite part is the whiskers! They are a really great little addition that I don't see often, and they add to the cheeky expression.

My favorite thing about the Finx as a species is what they ARE. A combination of cat and bird? Two sworn enemies suddenly merged into one glorious combination of wings and fur, feathers and teeth. Simply amazing.

The uniqueness of the species carries over into the colorations, as no other species combines two creatures in this way. Fantastic job, and marvelous execution of such a wonderful idea.
