Gala Goodies!

I'd offer you a drink to go with them, but it looks like everyone is offering up theirs for some strange reason.
Mori has asked us to auction off this regal beauty for a drink rimmed with one valuable spice!
That's right! The vion tamer is accepting bids of Cinnamon Drinks only.

The Seasonal Shop has also been updated to include some dazzling pets!
Those are all the pets that will be added, but we still have a few to auction off in the coming days.

This potion made from the finest diamond is the Essence of April 2012!
When you feed this sparkling elixir to your pet, it will be changed into one of the 18 pets above.
The Essence of April 2012 is also the monthly item for our premium members since there's a lot of spendy hybrids again this time!

Your goal is to design a pet that is "made" from recycled pieces or things that are environmentally friendly.
Hmm.. it looks like not all storms are the light, refreshing rain we think of with spring.
Here's a sneak peek at our upcoming Ara region--the Wasteland--which will be released this month!
Our goal for April is to really squash the bugs with Adventure so that we can start utilizing old, uncoded items and take advantage of the unique platform that the Adventure system offers us over Explore. We have so many exciting ideas that we can't wait to implement, but we want a smooth, working system first!
In honor of our new Ara region coinciding with hybrid breeding season, we bring you two Ara hybrids!
April 2012 Breeding Season
April 3rd - April 10th
(It's not quite the third, but I'm giving you a little head start.)

The Breeding Coin can be found in the Cash Shop for its normal price of 75 GP!
For the health of the breeding queue, we are making these coins available for the duration of hybrid breeding season, but are not offering the packages or deals.
We are, however, entering Custom Talisman Madness!

If you aren't familiar with these talismans, they contain 3 items, and each one is 25% off its normal price!
If you're an avid custom maker or want to have some to tuck away for a rainy day, this is the perfect time to buy in bulk! It's also a great time to pick up some orbs or crystals for those piles of designs I know some of you are sitting on. I SEE YOU.

Remember, this is the item you can use to upload your very own Bird of Paradise SCC!
(This is the priciest item the shop will offer, fyi.)

The bag only has enough magic in it to last for the duration of the Gala, so you must submit your pet(s) to the queue by 11:59 PM on April 6th!
We also had a minor fabric explosion in the seasonal shop as well!

Gala Contests!

We want to keep the festivities going with some good stories, moving art, inspiring poetry and even more intriguing characters.
First up is two writing contests!
Imagine yourself sitting around an outdoor bar with friends, strangers and more food and wine than you could ever drink or eat. Everything is loud, beautiful and dramatic--the clothes, the music, the colors. Even when you step away from the Gala festival for a moment, the party buzz still hums in your ears.
People have been taking turns singing songs and playing the role of a bard, and now it's your turn.

If you excel at something a little more structured, then we have a contest for that too!
Writing to the prompt of Drama of the Glittering Gala, your work may take the form of either a short story or an "epic" poem in a slam of narrative styles!

We also have a Character Contest on the event board that features these five customs-to-be. Create a personality/character profile for the one that speaks to you the most and you might just be able to take it home!
The Glittering Gala is also funding a series of art contests!
Theme: GLAM
Mediums: All art mediums are accepted as long as they are comprised of all original work. Photomanipulations, for example, are not allowed. You can use digital or traditional media, do sculpture work, etc.
There are three different classes you can enter even though they all have the same theme and requirements.
Master Class
For artists who have been officially recognized by the art gallery or other site event.
Contributor Class
For pet colorists, breeding artists, etc.
Dark Horse Class
For unestablished artists.
You may only enter in one class and there's one entry per account.
If you're unsure which class you fall in, you can either PM Mori (#802) or myself.
We are also bringing you another pair of BP auction pets!

There will be a total of ten pets put into these BP auctions.

The Glittering Gala!
Site Update
Running March 30th - April 6th!
The Glittering Gala is a festival of glitz and glamour, with loud music and even louder outfits to welcome spring and the coming of the flower viewing season. Basically, it's party time here on Aywas. ;) Are you ready?
With the help of a Slashbot, a little pinch of stardust and Mori's mind, we bring you a week-long festival of good food, art, stories, and a metric universe ton of sequins!
Let's kick off the celebration with an explosion of fabric!
We have a lot gorgeous outfits and accessories to release throughout the event. And I mean a lot.
The Glittering Gala will have lots of limited edition clothing, but it will also make a permanent impact on the clothing shops around Ay. You can find the Layer Cake dress series and many more pieces in the stores now!
Now, what's a party without food?
These three tasty treats can be found in the Ay shops. Make sure you pay before you try and sample the food!
While you're chowing down, you might also want to feast your eyes on that pretty art I talked about.
This lovely, glamorous bird is the mascot of our Glittering Gala event--aka, the silver pet base!

Now, how do you obtain one of these snazzy bags?
SEQUINS!
I told you there was a ton of them, didn't I?
Sequins are a special currency that will be used in a seasonal shop for this event.
You can find them in any location in Adventure and will come across random piles between 1 and 10 sequins.
These points are locked to your account, so you cannot sell or trade them.
So, what will you be able to buy with Sequins?
Velvet Stardust, mounds and mounds of glamorous HA clothing, and extravagant pets!
We are going to wait for a day or so to open the seasonal shop. This will give us time to track how sequins are accumulating and help us determine item prices--not to mention upload all the goodies we have for you!
As if all this wasn't exciting enough, what's a party without some games or a little competition?
The Glittering Gala is also sponsoring art, writing and character contests, as well as hosting several auctions!
We're going to start off with a pair of BP auctions for two glammed-up custom pets!

Note: If you submitted anything to either of the Glittering Gala threads, just hang tight! We still have a lot of things to accept and upload and then will be able to take care of payments. :)
Mori spent a lot of time planning out this event for everyone to enjoy down to the smallest detail, but unfortunately can't be here to see it kick off since he is on a trip to Japan, so lets enjoy the sequins for him!
Even when he's not here, I think it's pretty clear he knows how to throw a party, wouldn't you agree?
